Job Summary

Experienced level assembly position. This position is capable of blueprint reading and building fixtures of moderate complexity including; lamination of plastics and veneers, drawer and door assemblies and minor hardware duties. Ability to look ahead and help identify issues and assist in developing solutions. This position is capable of a more complex build. Trained and uses all woodworking equipment.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in developing timely solutions to problemsCompetently operates and trains crew members on the operation of assembly equipmentMonitors estimate to actual labor usageAbility to skillfully use all hand tools for assembly of workInlaying-specifically for metal fit, showcase/display work which is integrated with glass, fabric wrapping, electrical (LED) etc.Trim the component pieces if necessary, create jigs and templates as required for productionBlueprint reading-ensure accuracy against all blueprints and drawingsLaminating & veneer skills- spraying of adhesives, applying of laminates or veneers, seaming and edge treatments which can include routing and filingAble to spot and correct discrepancies or inaccuracies in specifications that do not adhere to accepted practice or quality standardsEnsures all component parts are available and organized for the project and assemblers and other team membersWork on complex tasks in a given time period, adjusting for changing prioritiesResponsible for assembling fabricated cabinets from pre-cut and kitted wood stockSpecific duties include obtaining pre-kitted stock, and to pre-measure components to ensure part cut accuracyUse woodworking machines to create finished edges, boring or routing holes for the insertion of screws and other fasteners during assemblyOther tasks include performing finish sanding, installing drawers, and hardware, (hinges, pulls, glass)Account for time and material using the company’s computer systemKeep work area and aisles around you are kept clean and free from debrisEffectively communicate to internal customersAssures the quality of product is acceptableScan materials when necessaryGlues, fits, screws (and infrequently nails), and clamps components during the assembly processProvides quality checks of personal assembly tasks as well as quality checks of all component partsWith little or no guidance able to stay on budget for labor hours assigned to work ordersAssures that parts of subassemblies and finished product are labeled correctlyReturns all items and tools to their proper placePackages finished product in accordance to specifications or accepted practiceWillingness to be cross-trained and adapt to varying assembly rolesAble to log time and attendance on production computerMust arrive and depart from work as per specified schedule. May be asked to work extended hoursMaintains professional attitude when approaching work assignmentsFollows procedures in company handbookRequired to provide tools as required, per list provided, within the first 90 days of employmentOther duties which may be assigned on an as-required basis including: laminating or painting

Qualifications

High school education or demonstrate an aptitude to comprehend and perform assembly tasks5+years of experience of wood manufacturing in the store fixture industry (furniture and/or custom cabinetry preferred)Ability to understand and comply with safety procedures and quality standards and print reading capabilitiesExperience with various wood species and the ability to work with the types of machinery & equipment listed below
