Buyer Temp

The Buyer is responsible for soliciting quotations from a base of qualified vendors, placing purchase orders, follow-up and expediting placed purchase orders to meet established schedules. The individual is also expected to solicit support as necessary from other departments to resolve questions or problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Principal responsibility is for the buyer to know the value of what is being purchased and ensure that the purchase meets required schedules within the budgeted guidelines.Works independently with minimum supervision.Individual will be negotiating the purchase order terms with regard to quality and cost savings.Able to interact with various vendors and other departments.Must be diligent with vendor follow-up and expedited promised deliveries.Must be organized, detailed oriented and possess time management skills.Responsible for periodic visits to vendors.Computer knowledge with the Windows, Oracle preferred.Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.Resolve CW Pay issues.Participate in KTL meetings and update actions as applicable.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of two (2) years’ work experience as a junior buyer.Prior experience in machine shop environment.Good interpersonal skills.Good verbal and written communication skills.Prior experience with ORACLE ERP desirable.Familiarity with MRP a plus.Working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word.Must be able to work independently and make own decisions.

EDUCATION / TRAINING:

High School degree but a College degree preferred in Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
