Purpose of Role

The Buyer / Planner is responsible for ensuring Delivery Solutions have what they need when they need it, to help guarantee customer satisfaction. While this role will involve negotiating functions, the daily tasks include communications with our suppliers (potential and existing) and holding them accountable to our contracts, focusing on supply, quality, on time delivery, and price. This role will have direct, cross-functional relationships with all Sales Representatives, Account Specialists, Quality, Design and Engineering, and exists as a gatekeeper to our suppliers.

Areas of Accountabilities

Procurement Management

Identify and select suppliers based on quality, price, service, support, availability, reliability, and product selection. Negotiate terms and conditions, including pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules. Issue purchase orders and follow up to ensure on-time delivery. Develop and maintain standards, databases and other directives regarding the proper purchasing of equipment and parts as needed for Delivery Solutions. Achieve Subject Matter Expert (SME) level competency on services and components within assigned area.

Inventory Planning and Control

Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock checks, and adjust orders as necessary. Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize costs. Work with warehouse to ensure proper inventory storage and handling. Maintain a thorough understanding of the items/categories being purchased and utilize this information to recommend proper inventory levels, including finished goods when applicable, and ordering methods to reduce inventory and working capital.

Supplier Relationship Management

Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers. Conduct supplier performance reviews and address any issues related to quality, delivery, and service. Recommend supplier improvements on performance and reliability.

Coordination with Internal Teams

Work closely with Sales Reps, Account Specialists, Engineering, Quality, Category, Integrated Solutions, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth production flow and address any material-related issues. Coordinate with finance for timely payments to suppliers. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure alignment of procurement activities with business goals. Provide cross functional assistance on reporting and other projects that require Procurement’s involvement with other departments, notably new products or services that will also involve Quality and Design teams.

Cost Management

Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to reduce procurement expenses. Monitor and report on key procurement metrics, including cost savings and supplier performance. Participate in decisions with procurement on allocation of products among multiple suppliers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous experience in manufacturing, especially in purchasing, materials, inventory or scheduling, preferred. Candidates must possess the ability to juggle many projects simultaneously, while meeting precise deadlines. Supply chain certifications or equivalent experience or education (CPIM, APICS) is a plus. Minimal to moderate travel required, average of 15%. Proficiency in all MS programs required, with an emphasis on excel (medium to advanced level). JDE/Oracle experience, while not required, is preferred. Must be able to achieve results under tight deadlines while demonstrating a shared sense of urgency. Must be able to swiftly adapt approach, work and demeanor to shifting demands, situations (e.g. market and environmental changes, internal needs).

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Rehrig Pacific, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,000.00 to $70,000.00.
