Buyer/Materials Manager

This position will provide Procurement and Storeroom support at our Kalispell Montana complex. We're looking for an individual with experience in managing manufacturing mill materials, services, and cost strategies. The individual should be highly motivated and a self-starter capable of working with minimal direct supervision.

The Buyer/Material Manager position is part of the Montana Wood Products Material Procurement organization and reports to the Kalispell Plywood Lumber Plant Manager with a dotted line to the Capital Area Procurement Manager. This is a full-time, exempt position that will reside in Kalispell, Montana and support the Kalispell Complex, including but not limited to Kalispell Plywood, Lumber, Log Yard and Boiler operations and may require flow to work support for other Montana facilities.

As a Buyer/Material Manager for the Kalispell Complex, you will have the opportunity to:

Pursue opportunities to consolidate larger dollar purchases and supply management to include storerooms. Prepare and publish specifications for bids, evaluate bid responses, contract award and creation, verify history of supplier service and their ability to meet contract specification.Search out new suppliers based on safety, quality, service as well as competitive pricing in a total cost environment. Perform procurement functions for non-routine goods and services. Source a wide variety of commodities and services and provide project support to maintenance and engineering personnel. Perform procurement and transaction processing activities for various operations. Create and manage local contracts for supplies and services. Support capital projects for wood products manufacturing facilities. Be a key contributing team member for the Kalispell manufacturing operations with potential to lead or oversee storerooms. Safely manage storeroom purchasing associates to include hiring, planning work, supervising work, training, evaluating job performance and conducting salary reviewsLead inventory cycle counts and associated reconciliations per best practices and financial reporting guidelines.Perform inventory transactions such as issues, returns, credits and reconciliations. Perform various AP related functions such as Work Cycles, matching packing slips to invoices, etc. Manage vendor inventory and vending machines: including having responsibility for re-order process documentation and approvals. Run kitting and delivery pick lists, stages parts, ensure timely distribution of materials to the plant and evaluate associated reports. Break down freight, notifying site user that material is on site and receive in the system.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

Degree in related field, Procurement Certification (C.P.M., A.P.P., CSPM) or minimum five (5) years equivalent in purchasing and/or inventory/materials management experience in a manufacturing environment disposing of surplus materials.Minimum High School DiplomaBackground in inventory/materials management Committed to continuous improvement Customer oriented and focused (both internal and external) Demonstrate basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, other windows-based programs and internet skills Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening) and interpersonal skills required to interact and participate in a team environment, in both a support/team and leadership role.Strong proven business acumen and ability to obtain results. Ability to research product/services and conduct value analysis by analyzing data and identifying options thru proven business acumen with ability to obtain results.Demonstrated commitment to professional ethical standards. Proven credibility and integrity with both the customer and supplier community using purchasing best practices.Ability to handle large volume of work and multiple priorities simultaneously, work under pressure and meet deadlines Proven credibility and integrity with both the customer and supplier community using purchasing best practices Ability to provide backup procurement support for other facilities as needed Working knowledge of commercial terms and business law Ability to research product/services and conduct value analysis by analyzing data and identifying options Experience in bidding, negotiating, preparing and administering contacts and agreements Advanced buying techniques i.e., scheduling agreements Effective problem-solving techniques and capability to analyze and recognize process efficiency opportunities.Experience in maintenance and capital project support, including bidding, negotiating and contract administration.

The following qualifications are desired:

Working knowledge of accounting functions that apply to purchasing.Leadership experience.Working knowledge of Materials and Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and maintenance/operations planning. Previous procurement experience in manufacturing environment.

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $62,900 to $94,300 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience.
