How will you make an impact?

The Buyer II has overall responsibility for an assigned portfolio of suppliers for our Hillsboro site. We build ion and electron beam assemblies, used in laboratory and science applications worldwide, and dual-beam wafer cutting systems that are integral to the semiconductor industry.

This role is key in ensuring uninterrupted global supply of raw materials, OEM finished goods and services. This position’s primary objective is to acquire inbound materials and services on time and complete, from approved critical global suppliers to support the operations and improve the organization’s profitability.

A Day in the Life as Buyer II: Use our MRP system to issue and manage purchase orders based on requirementsComplete returns process for material deemed defectiveEnsure past due POs and PO confirmations are updated to ensure MRP accuracyDeliver to key team metrics such as On Time Delivery and Order Confirmation ratesCollaborate internally and externally to flag supplier underperformance, find root causes and develop solutionsParticipate in Engineering Changes as needed for revisions to parts and bills of materialUpdate part set points for order quantities and safety stock, reducing shortage risks and moderating inflow of inventory by reducing excess and obsolescenceWork with key internal partners (Sourcing, Planning, Customer Service, Finance) to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of our supply chainContribute to increased customer loyalty score (CAS)Adopt and participate in initiatives to identify improvements and cost savings to the businessAssist other Buyers and the Purchasing Manager as needed

Keys to Success:

Education:

University degree in supply chain management, or an appropriate combination of education and experienceExperience2 years of experience working in Purchasing department in a highly flexible environment1 year of experience in management of critical supply chain for High-mix/Low-volume productionKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesExperienced in continuous improvementProficient use of SBM (Serena Business Management) or similar systemsStrong analytical skillsIn depth experience with inventory, purchasing, and supplier management activityExperience working with ERP systems (knowledge of QAD a plus but not required)Strong organization and time management skillsAble to re-set priorities as corporate objectives changeIndividual committed to partnership and achieving outcomesAn ability to think strategically and operate in a matrixed structure in order to improve business opportunitiesMust demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong English proficiencyExperience/knowledge of Microsoft Outlook/Microsoft Excel/Microsoft WordMicrosoft Access and Microsoft BI experience is a plus
