The actual offer may vary, reflecting the candidate's unique blend of experience, educational background, and skill level._ **How you will make an impact in this role:** This position will support the procurement and supply chain management functions by efficiently sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, equipment, and services necessary for the cooperative's operations. This role ensures that all acquisitions are made in a cost-effective manner while adhering to the highest standards of quality, timeliness, and compliance with industry regulations and cooperative policies. By fostering strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders, the Buyer I contributes to the seamless operation and reliability of our power generation and distribution systems, ultimately aiding in the delivery of safe, affordable, and sustainable energy to our member communities ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Ensure the availability of supplies for the maintenance, repair and operational requirement. 2. Purchase consumable materials, routine plant and transmission materials, and review and update pricing, material requirements and resolving issues between DPC and the Vendor. 3. Develop relationships with Vendors that provide non-hazardous products, compatible with environmental regulations and personnel safety. 4. Responsible for applicable specifications on purchase orders such as ANSI, ASME, ASTM, or MSD sheets, mill test reports, blanket certifications, and/or cure date certification. 5. Perform follow-up on purchase orders to reconcile problems such as expediting, invoicing, or correcting materials and/or quantities, claims under warranties, etc. 6. Review purchase requisitions for account numbers, descriptions, quantity, and proper approvals before issuing a purchase order. 7. Negotiate price and delivery of merchandise with vendors. 8. Evaluate vendor’s quality, capabilities, and price to obtain optimum purchase for Dairyland Power. 9. Obtain pricing for purchasing requirements within departmental budgetary requirements. 10. Other duties as assigned. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. **Skills:** Possess knowledge of material specifications, including ASME, ASTM, and ANSI standards. Have a basic understanding of contract negotiations and commercial law. Exhibit computer literacy and possess well-developed oral and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on excellent customer service. Must have a strong attention to detail. **Licenses and Certifications:** Valid Driver’s License, CPSM certification preferred, but not required **Physical Demands:** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Operate under moderate supervision while being both team-oriented and capable of working independently on routine and variable tasks. Work environment is often fast-paced and high-pressure. Visit Dairyland Power Cooperative’s plants, warehouses, and transmission job sites, as well as supplier facilities. Attend product seminars to stay informed on industry developments.
