We are seeking a highly skilled Buyer to perform complex purchasing activities, including negotiating terms and long-term contracts with suppliers, securing volume discounts, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. The ideal candidate will maintain efficient output of purchase orders, achieve the highest quality at the best value, and ensure compliance with corporate and government regulations.
ResponsibilitiesPerform complex purchasing activities, including pricing, volume discounts, negotiating terms and long-term contracts with suppliers, and delivery of goods/services.Negotiate best terms (price, delivery, and payment terms) with suppliers while maintaining efficient output of purchase orders to reach the highest quality at the best value.Establish source selection criteria for the evaluation of quotations, including target pricing.Evaluate quotations received from prospective suppliers and make decisions regarding the award of purchase orders.Implement formal and legal contractual documentation into the purchase orders, encompassing all corporate and government requirements.Resolve discrepancies between purchase order requirements and supplier performance.Ensure compliance with government laws, regulations, and procurement policies and procedures.Identify problem areas, initiate corrective action, and establish problem resolution dates in a timely manner.Maintain current and accurate purchase order data in the purchasing system (e.g., delivery dates, pricing, change orders).Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and additional hours as necessary.Essential Skills5+ years of relevant experience in procurement, preferably in an aerospace/manufacturing environment.Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of procurement.Demonstrated ability to write specifications, prepare bid documents, handle the bidding process, and analyze all bid results.Strong experience negotiating license contracts with a track record of success.Ability to solve complex problems and exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to drive tasks to completion.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with SAP and Excel.Ability to effectively communicate with customers and provide updates on status.A proactive, go-getter attitude with a strong sense of ownership.Work Environment
The work environment involves handling a high volume of commodity and electronics purchases, with a focus on maintaining accurate data in the purchasing system. The role requires consistent and punctual attendance, with the possibility of working nights, weekends, and additional hours as necessary.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
