Job Description:At Regions, the Business Unit Accountant provides accounting support to assigned business unit. Performs general accounting tasks that may include, but are not limited to, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing summaries or supporting documentation for reports. All work is performed in accordance with company policy and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and appropriate standards and regulations. This position provides timely and accurate financial reports to management while supporting and leading the business unit accounting functions in the efficient handling of day to day operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintains and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts of assigned business unitPrepares special accounting reports for management or regulatory authoritiesInvestigates potential problems and gathers appropriate data for solutionsPrepares and completes month end reporting of business unit resultsConducts financial analyses, audits, and/or investigations of businesses expensesAssists in developing and monitoring accounting internal control programs for assigned unitAnalyzes financial information for the purpose of providing direction and support, making recommendations, maximizing use of funds and ensuring overall operations are within budgetPrepares ad hoc analysis for managementAssists company external auditors and internal auditors, as needed, to ensure an efficient and effective audit processResolves disputed items and answer routine inquiriesPerforms balance sheet reconciliations as neededThis position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related fieldOr High School Diploma and four (4) years of directly related experienceSkills and Competencies
Ability to build relationships with peers and complete assignments in a team environment and independently Ability to work in a team environment when applicableExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)Strong detail orientation, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAdvanced Excel Experience preferred. Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role.
