Job Description Summary
The Sales Manager (SM) executes the sales strategy of the hotel, as defined by the Sales Leadership Team, to ensure that occupancy, average daily rate and market share goals are achieved. This includes creating and implementing specific account and/or segment based sales strategies and tactical plans. Production results will be monitored and adjusted to current market conditions to stay nimble and react advantageously to competitors. The SM will work directly with management to identify specific strategies and tactics to drive revenue according to the hotel’s seasonal demand.Job Description
Job Responsibilities
The BT Sales Manager must be able to develop and maintain corporate accounts. The BT Sales Manager must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, is organized and able to multi-task. Specifically, the Sales Manager would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
· Respond to sales inquiries from potential clients and customers seeking sleeping rooms
· Complete RFPs for Corporates by working with the Senior Sales Manager, Revenue Manager and Managing Director
· Initiate new sales, prospects and qualifies leads and solicits potential clients
· Host and entertain clients and maintain client accounts
· Conduct property site visits and answer questions
· Determine rates, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, service accounts and analyze lost business for the hotel(s)
· Develop sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed established revenue and room night goals
· Review future booking levels to plan dates for promotions to increase occupancy rates
· Interact with in house guests and solicit future business or generate leads
· Knowledge of market trends, competition, and key customers of the hotel.
· Partner with operations departments to ensure full participation in servicing accounts
· Must have exceptional customer service skills
· Ability to work well in a team environment
· Must have a self-starting personality with an even disposition to effectively communicate with guests and staff.
· Possess excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills. Computer literacy and financial management.
· Willingness to travel to support sales efforts at Business travel conference and solicit travel agencies and call centers.
· Attend professional organization events that support the business travel community (e.g. SVBTA and BABTA)
· Other job duties and responsibilities may be assigned and not limited to what is described above.
Education and Certifications
· Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in business, communications, or hotel management preferred
· Two years or more related experience in sales work at a conference hotel.
· Must have experience in "cold call" solicitation, contract closing, site inspections/visits with clients, setting up fam trips and contract negotiations.
· Have working knowledge of all departments, the Hotel and its amenities.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Sales related computer programs required.
· Strong financial knowledge required.
· Valid driver’s license from the appropriate state and MVR in good standing.
Language Skills
Required to have the ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Sales Manager must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
· Required to have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
· As well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
Computer Skills
Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, accounting programs, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Opera and Delphi.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
