This is a fast-paced, conversational beat in the biggest newsroom in Ohio, where you’ll be part of a trends team. You’ll cover both breaking news and enterprise, working to react to national stories and develop your own ideas. We don’t want jargon or business-to-business coverage; we want stories that appeal to readers. Here's why you’ll want to work with us: + Are a reporter who can work with speed, creativity, accuracy and good judgment. + Have experience covering business-related stories, preferably in Cleveland. + Engage on social media platforms regularly and follow trends. + Have humility, a sense of humor, relentless curiosity and bring passion to your reporting. The base salary range is $53,000 - $60,000 per year. The ideal candidate will have: + Degree in Journalism, communications or related field preferred + Minimum two years journalism experience with a proven ability in reporting and writing + Skilled at building, maintaining and engaging an active audience + Proven ability to work independently under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately, handling complex assignments + Demonstrated solid reporting, writing and organizational skills + Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics, headline writing and story structure + Expertise in capitalizing on high-value topics by engaging audiences in frequency and urgency + Reliable transportation.
