Your Role:
The primary purpose of this role is to underwrite Business Package policies which contribute to the achievement of the SMD and company goals which include profitability, growth. Success in this role will be reliant on the ability to consistently provide excellent customer service within standards whilst ensuring compliance.
Your Responsibilities:
Financial
• Deliver profitable growth through achievement of GWP through production, profitability and expenses including retention, conversion rate, and loss ratio
Underwriting
• Underwrite referrals within delegated underwriting authority in accordance with the guidelines for new business, renewals and endorsements. Make recommendations for acceptance or declination of risks which exceed authority
• Responsible for underwriting results of assigned portfolio
• Maintain awareness of claim activity and liaise with stakeholders
• Contribute towards the continual development and improvement of the portfolio including Post Acceptance Reviews
• Business development
• Establish relationships with key and new producers identifying opportunities including scheme and portfolio transfers
• Ensure stakeholders are kept up to date with regular communications
• Assists in underwriter training and broker relations
Service
• Provide responsive service on underwriting referrals
• Take responsibility for quality of responses and referral turnaround times
• Maintain awareness of claim activity and liaise with stakeholders
Occupational Health & Safety
• Accountable for taking all practical measures to ensure that the workplace and persons under their control are safe and without risk to health
Risk Culture
• Champion risk culture values and being a strong advocate for good customer outcomes in all business activities. Promote continuous improvement to Chubb’s products and services having regard to product assessments, IT solution and business efficiencies
• Be aware of and appropriately mange conduct risk within your area
• Understand your role and take ownership of risks and controls as a first line risk owner
• Effectively manage third party arrangements you/your function is responsible for, ensuring effective oversight and monitoring is in place and steps are taken promptly where issues are identified
• Appropriate action taken for employee conduct that is outside of that contemplated in the risk culture goal and Code of Conduct
• Promptly report incidents and ensure functional area does the same. Handle any complaints fairly and promptly in accordance with Chubb policy
• Participate in quarterly compliance attestation process and provision of accurate information for Board and Committee reporting
• Compliance with Code of Conduct, internal policies, regulations
• Proven experience as an underwriter in general insurance/business packages
