Business Officer
Description: This position serves as the Business Officer for the Center for Regional and Rural Connected Communities (CR2C2). The individual hired for this role will be responsible for business and program management, financial oversight, procurement, and data collection and analysis for CR2C2 and its associated laboratories, projects, and activities. Key responsibilities include preparing and managing financial and human resource transactions, overseeing all department accounts (both University and externally funded), and ensuring compliance with University and grant policies and procedures. This role also involves managing procurement processes to support the Center’s operations, ensuring timely acquisition of goods and services. This position reports to the Director of CR2C2 and helps ensure the Center’s financial stability and compliance with University and grant policies and procedures. Primary Function of Organizational Unit: North Carolina A & T is a public land grant high research activity university that enrolls over 14,000 students. The University is committed to dedicated teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service. The College of Engineering ( COE ), with over 2,500 students, has 5 Doctoral programs, 8 Masters of Science Degree programs, and EAC ABET accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Bio-, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a CAC ABET -accredited program Computer Science. The Center for Regional and Rural Connected Communities (CR2C2) was initially funded by U.S. Department of Transportation in 2023. CR2C2 will serve as the Region 4 University Transportation Center ( UTC ) charged with addressing transportation challenges within the southeastern region of the United States. Requirements: + Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or a related STEM discipline (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering) with at least 1 year of relevant experience, OR + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or a related STEM discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial management, or related fields. + Strong initiative with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks effectively, and resolve challenges with decisiveness and patience. + Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a meticulous attention to detail. + Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while delivering high-quality results. + Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and professional competence in managing sensitive financial information. + Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling), Word, and PowerPoint. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and produce actionable insights. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare and deliver clear and concise financial presentations and reports. + Effective interpersonal and facilitation skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. + Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to assess financial processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective solutions.
