NextDirect LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company, serves our project teams and clients by providing expertise in direct procurement of permanent project equipment and materials (examples include major structure materials, enclosure materials, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, etc.).
The NextDirect Business Unit Leader will be responsible for the leadership of the entire business; people, strategy, operations, execution, profitability and the overall growth and success of the business as strategic lever. In this newly created role, this individual, will work directly with senior management, operations peer groups, business and project leadership teams, subcontractors, suppliers, dealers, manufacturers, engineers, legal and risk management to deliver value and profitability for the organization. This role will sit primarily in the office.

Responsibilities Responsible for leading the NextDirect business with primary accountability for the following: People and Team Culture Vision / Strategy for the Business(es) and manage team to oversee the execution of the strategy. Competitive Intelligence and how to position NextDirect within the industry. Business development and customer adoption efforts (internal and external). Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with vendors and suppliers and constituents. Operations (internal / external), standard operating procedures (SOP’s), and risk management for strategic sourcing and procurement of materials and equipment (full life cycle - sales, execution and warranty). Sales/Gross Profit/Overhead/Net Income goals for the Business(es) and take action to prevent profit erosion, forecast slippage, risks and project financial performance including development of risk management strategies. Development and Ownership of Business Unit key performance indicators A culture of scaled innovation to drive consistent and sustainable growth/profitability. Recruit and hire top talent and key strategic hires to drive Business growth. Hold staff accountable and ensure people are in the right positions to ensure success. Drive and lead initiatives for Employee Engagement and Retention. Lead career development for emerging leaders and ensure appropriate development and succession plans are in place. Model efforts for Culture, Safety, Inclusion and Diversity, and Gilbane’s Core Values. QualificationsEXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related field
Extensive market and business leadership experience with a minimum of 10 years in direct procurement, supply chain / procurement management in commercial construction
Business Leadership, Operationalization, Relationship Management and Business Development expertise
Or an equivalent combination of education and experiences
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of design/engineering, direct procurement strategies and execution, construction equipment and materials
Excellent negotiating skills
Strong analytical skills

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
For Providence, RI this ranges from $270,000.00-$345,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
