Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Business Intelligence Business Analyst Lead plays a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making within the bank. They are responsible for leading a team of business intelligence business analysts (BIBA) to extract, analyse, and interpret data from various sources to provide insights and support strategic initiatives. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders across different departments to understand business needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop solutions that enhance operational efficiency and drive business growth.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
Team Leadership
Lead a team of BIBAs, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful execution of projects.Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on continuous learning and professional development.Business Partnering
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements, challenges, and objectives.Translate business needs into data analysis requirements and develop solutions that address business problems and drive value.Strategic Planning:Contribute to the development of the bank's strategic roadmap by providing data-driven insights and recommendations.Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and revenue enhancement through data analysis and modelling.Project Management:Manage end-to-end delivery of business intelligence projects, including scope definition, resource allocation, timeline management, and stakeholder communication.Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, meeting quality standards and addressing business requirements.Data Governance
Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security.Collaborate with IT and other relevant stakeholders to maintain data architecture and infrastructure that supports business intelligence initiatives.Continuous Improvement:Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business intelligence and data analytics.Identify opportunities to enhance existing processes, tools, and methodologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness.ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.Proven experience (5 years) in business intelligence, data analytics, or a similar role, with a track record of delivering impactful insights and solutions.Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve excellence..Solid understanding of database management systems, data warehousing, and ETL processes.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.Project management certification (Agile) is a plus.The appointment will be made from the designated group in line with the Employment Equity Plan of Old Mutual South Africa and the specific business unit.
Develops and manages a strategy and operating model for the Business Intelligence function that provides a strategic and fit-for-purpose business intelligence service to Old Mutual Insure which contributes to business growth and strategy realisation.ResponsibilitiesData ManagementTake overall responsibility for designing, developing, and delivering data management systems that meet organizational needs.
Analysis of "As Is" and "To Be"Document the most complex "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability to record accurately the change required.
Data ArchitectureTranslate data and analytics strategy and vision into data architecture, defining and implementing models, rules, and standards for design and governance.
Data and Analytics StrategyCreate and execute a long-term strategy for leveraging data and analytics as a key business enabler and competitive differentiator across the business.
Leadership and DirectionCommunicate the function's strategy and its relationship to the organization's mission, vision, and values; clarify the actions needed to implement this strategy within the area of responsibility; motivate people to commit to the mission, vision, and values and do extraordinary things to achieve the organization's business goals.
BudgetingTake responsibility for setting and managing area budgets so they align with organizational strategy.
Business Requirements IdentificationElicit the most-complex business requirements using a variety of methods, such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis, to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
Continuous ImprovementLead the review of existing operations and the implementation of innovation processes across the department or sub-function to ensure the required continuous improvement outcomes are delivered.
Organizational Capability BuildingUse the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
