Position Overview:
Global Emerging Markets (GEM) is a growth engine for Convatec. It is a complex business unit, responsible for the sales of the entire Convatec portfolio (primarily advanced wound care and ostomy care) in all countries outside of Europe and North America.
The purpose of this role is to drive an external and data-driven focus across the business unit, creating a deeper insight into the markets in which we operate (landscape, people, brand and competition), consolidating these insights in such a way that allows for stronger and more incisive decision making across the business unit in terms of where to play (both countries and categories) and how to win.
The role will work cross-functionally, spanning the category business units, the GEM Leadership Team and in-country teams to help establish data sources, subsequently turning data into insight that drives the business unit strategy. This role will be pivotal in developing systems and governance to ensure visibility of performance, supporting performance management and strategy deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
Work cross-functionally, collaborating with global, regional and local marketing teams, to consolidate and analyse data from across the business
Create a framework that allows for insight to be drawn from this data, providing recommendations that aid in-country and pan-business unit decision making across multiple dimensions (brand, portfolio, category, country, etc…)
Establish external data sources that can triangulate, challenge the status quo and further deepen this insight
Partner with the GEM Leadership Team to review, evaluate and adjust the business unit five-year strategic plan, creating clarity on shorter-term deliverables
Utilise P&Ls, coupled with other data to analyse how strategies are aligned with the financial management of the business
Partner with regional marketing to provide guidance to countries and category teams to support decision making within the financial, brand and launch planning processes
Develop and manage processes to support governance of business-critical deliverables, taken from the strategic plan to ensure execution is happening in a timely manner (including launch excellence process)
Skills & Experience:
Open minded individual with a minimum 10 years’ commercial experience within the healthcare industry (pharma, medtech, devices or consumer)
Proven, exceptional track record of working across cross-functional teams and across diverse markets and cultures
Strong commercial acumen, underpinned with a deep understanding of marketing principles and best practices
Ability to prioritise, measure and track performance across the marketing mix (on and offline, across customer groups and channels) and make recommendations for course correction as necessary
Demonstrated curiosity and customer / patient focus to derive deep insights from multiple sources, making connections in the data to uncover new themes that have led to tangible actions and business results
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels within the business
Ability to interpret multiple data sources, utilise relevant tools (e.g. Power BI), and appreciate different collection methods with demonstrated success conducting effective analysis to generate meaningful insights
Understands the principles of resource allocation and is able to interrogate this within marketing plans
Ideally good knowledge of fundamentals of Sales Force Excellence (SFE), including segmentation and targeting (S&T), sales resource optimization (SRO) and customer relationship management (CRM) to enable strong partnership with the SFE team and deep integration of SFE into overall business strategy
Ideally experience in a mix of sales, marketing, business intelligence
Ideally worked within a mix of country and regional / global roles
