Business Development Specialist
MD Anderson
The Strategic Industry Ventures (SIV) group at MD Anderson Cancer Center is primarily responsible for conceiving, drafting, negotiating, executing and operationalizing a wide range of value-creating relationships with leaders in the biomedical/oncology industry. The end goal of these activities is to enhance existing intellectual property (IP) and/or develop new technologies and therapies which lead to better outcomes for cancer patients. This goal is accomplished through the execution of various agreements between MD Anderson and outside parties.
The primary purpose of this SIV Business Development Specialist (BDS) position is to support and contribute to the continued success of the SIV team and function. By actively participating in a variety of industry-touching projects and programs, the BDS will assist other BD professionals toward the goal of executing value-creating transactions for MD Anderson Cancer Center and for the benefit of patients.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Work closely with SIV team members to assist in the advancement of various collaboration, co-development, license, option and clinical trial alliance agreements and relationships (i.e. commercialization transactions or "deals"). Conduct landscape analyses, market research, and due diligence in support of deal generation, structure, and financial justification. Assist in outreach and marketing activities both internally at MDACC and externally to biomedical industry companies. Remain current on industry news, such as mergers, acquisitions, major transactions, pipeline development, funding status, trends, regulatory guidelines, and key technologies. Assist in deal design and term sheet creation. Assist in the review and advancement of various commercialization and supporting agreements. Help with the collection and organization of deal-related documents, including working closely with internal stakeholders to help prepare proposals, pitch decks, data rooms, etc. Develop and maintain internal and external relationships on behalf of SIV. Communicate SIV mission and represent the group in a polished, professional manner. Help with educational activities both virtually and in person as needed. Responsible for special one-off projects as assigned. Must be able to work independently with moderate supervision, exhibiting solid decision-making skills and judgement. Must exercise the utmost discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information. Must be able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Other duties as assigned.

Required: Master's degree
Preferred: Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years of project management experience in a related field.
