Business Development Representative
Overview of the Role

Here’s some real talk: If you’re looking to join a company with software that actually works and is a must-have for our customers, and if you can handle a demanding, fast-paced role in solution selling, then this is the role for you. As a Business Development Representative, you’ll report directly to the APAC Marketing Leader and play a crucial role in bridging our marketing and sales efforts.

You’ll work closely with our Account Executives to ensure that leads generated by marketing are effectively nurtured and converted into opportunities, including making outbound calls to proactively engage prospects. This role is about making sure our pipeline is strong and that every potential lead is given the attention it deserves. It’s fast-paced and challenging, but if you enjoy making a real impact, it’s incredibly rewarding.

At PagerDuty, we’re proud to offer a product that truly meets our customers' needs—it’s not just a nice-to-have; it’s essential. You won’t be selling something people don’t need—you’ll be offering solutions that genuinely make a difference.

You’ll also be part of a great team—people who are smart, supportive, and collaborative. If you’re looking for a role where you can grow and learn while working with quality products and great people, this is the place for you.

Key Responsibilities Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a solid sales pipeline. You’ll work closely with Account Executives and serve as a strong bridge between marketing and sales to ensure our efforts are aligned and effective. Value Selling: Sell solutions that truly work. Communicate the essential value of PagerDuty’s products and services, ensuring customers understand why our software is a must-have. Sales Effectiveness: Build and maintain strong connections with potential customers, nurturing leads through the sales funnel. You’ll need to stay organised and manage your time well to keep up with the fast pace of this environment. Sales Execution: Use best practices in account development to strategically target enterprise accounts in the APAC region. Engage prospects through various communication channels—phone calls, emails, social media, and marketing content. This includes making outbound calls to generate and nurture leads, ensuring a proactive approach to building the pipeline.  Tool Proficiency & Data Hygiene : Proficiently use Salesforce, Sales Navigator, Outreach, and Demandbase to optimise sales activities and maintain focus. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining high standards of data hygiene in our CRM, ensuring that all prospect information is accurate, up-to-date, and organised to support effective decision-making and follow-up. Basic Qualifications: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with potential customers and build relationships. Strong organisational skills to manage and prioritise multiple leads and opportunities effectively. Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic sales environment. Passion for technology. 1-2 years of experience in outbound prospecting. Preferred Qualifications: Prior sales development experience preferred. Experience using Salesforce.com preferred. A BA/BS degree is advantageous but not necessary—what matters most is your experience and other qualifications that show you have what it takes to succeed in this role. Career Growth:

This role offers opportunities to grow and explore different paths within the company, whether that’s continuing in sales or moving into account management. You’ll have plenty of room to advance, and proving your capabilities and making meaningful contributions will open those doors.

Understanding the Full Sales and Marketing Funnel:

In this role, you'll have the unique opportunity to learn how both marketing and sales work together to drive business success. Unlike many roles that only expose you to one side of the process, here you’ll gain insight into the entire funnel—from top-of-the-funnel lead generation through marketing efforts, to mid- and bottom-of-the-funnel activities where those leads are nurtured and converted by sales. This comprehensive understanding will set you up for real success in your career, giving you the knowledge and skills that are highly valuable in any future role within sales, marketing, or even broader business functions.

Work Environment:

PagerDuty is a flexible, hybrid workplace. We embrace and encourage in-person working as an integral part of our culture. Both our employees and external research tell us that co-located collaboration strengthens connections, drives innovation, and accelerates learning.

This role is based in our Sydney office, and you are expected to come in 1-2 days per week, so you can thrive in your new role and fully embrace being a Dutonian!

Compensation:

The base salary range for this position is competitive and paid in AUD. This role may also be eligible for bonuses, commission, equity, and/or benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific offerings for this role, as well as the salary range for your primary work location during the hiring process.
