Job Summary:

FG Wilson, within Caterpillar's Electric Power Division, is growing, and has an opening for a Business Development Manager to lead a newly created Technical Sales and Application & Installation team. You will develop and lead a newly created team focused on growing sales in Commercial/Infrastructure and Datacentre applications. You will provide strong commercial and technical support to our global sales organisation, ensuring that customer needs are understood and appropriate solutions developed.

This is a critical role to deliver FG Wilson's growth strategy and as a direct report to the FG Wilson General Manager, you will be an integral member of FG Wilson's senior leadership team. This position will work with customers, distribution partners and various internal partners including engineering, operations, supply chain, purchasing, product development and marketing organisations.

What You Will Do: ​

Lead a newly created team to enable sales growth across >500 kVA power generation product line.

Work closely with customers, internal functions and external dealers to ensure customer needs are identified and understood.

Ensure FG Wilson key sales growth initiatives related to data centres are delivered.

Identify territory and/or product growth opportunities through engagement with global sales teams.

Ensure customer solutions are developed and executed in a timely manner.

Lead the coordination of customer technical requirements with engineering and operations teams to ensure customer needs are met.

What You Have:

Meets regularly with customers to understand their wants, needs and expectations.

Communicates the importance of customer needs/expectations and commits to resolving them

Researches and verifies customer needs and expectations.

Works closely with internal functions and external dealers to ensure customer needs are met in a timely manner.

Value Selling:

Presents technical product or service costs and benefits in reaction to prospect or customer requests.

Documents proposed technical product/service solutions to be presented to potential customers.

 Works closely with engineering and operations teams to determine how customer needs can be met.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: 

Identifies, obtains, and organizes relevant data and ideas from customers, dealers, and/or internal functions.

Recognizes, clarifies, and prioritizes concerns.

 Assists in assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives.

Effective Communications:

Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed to support customer and/or dealer decision making

Ability to communicate with internal functions and externally with customers and/or dealers

 Ability to use technical jargon as necessary; avoids technical jargon when inappropriate.

 Looks for and considers non-verbal cues from individuals and groups.

Relationship Management:

Provides prompt and effective responses to customer requests and interactions

Monitors customer satisfaction levels on a regular basis.

Alerts internal team(s) and/or external dealers to problems in customer satisfaction

Differentiates the roles and responsibilities in a business relationship.

Works with customers to address critical issues and resolve major problems.

Negotiating: 

Uses active listening and probing techniques to surface problems, issues, and interests.

Demonstrates a willingness to examine own position.

Presents own position and listens attentively to position of others.

This role requires travelling up to 25% of the time.
