Business Controls Manager

We are seeking a talented individual to join our UK Specialty Governance team at Marsh. This role will be based in London. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

The Business Controls Manager is a key role responsible for actively supporting the governance of the UK Specialty division. The successful candidate will work with the UK Specialty Governance team and senior stakeholders, ensuring the effective delivery of governance projects and improvement initiatives.

This position requires a methodical and personable individual who enjoys building relationships with senior stakeholders and can thrive in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in insurance, preferably international and London market, have some compliance knowledge, and experience in supporting teams to achieve their goals.

We will count on you to:

Deliver projects on time by proactively managing timelines and ensuring all aspects of the project are considered for exceptional delivery and implementation.Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders and colleagues across various Specialties, taking the time to understand their specific business, and associated processes and guidelines.Comfortably and proactively approach peers to foster collaboration and communication and challenge them when required.Work collaboratively with the Senior Conduct Manager to ensure controls are applied and maintained in the business and periodically review their effectiveness.Support the Head of UK Specialty Governance to deliver actions and recommendations from Compliance Monitoring reviews and Internal Audit

What you need to have: 

Background in a business support / controls role within a professional or financial services companyResponsive to high ethical standards and integrity to ensure that governance runs smoothly and efficientlyExcellent organisational, problem-solving, multitasking and time management skills, with the ability to deliver projects on time.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a personable approach to building relationships with senior stakeholders.Methodical and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to absorb and process large amounts of information.

What makes you stand out?

Some Lloyd’s and London market regulatory knowledge/exposure with relevant certifications in compliance/CII are desirable.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. PowerApps knowledge would be an advantage.Experience in a business support / governance team
