Role description:

Overall leadership of a discipline team of professional staff, ensuring growth of capabilities and capacity to meet business demands, delivery of high-quality project outcomes, and nurturing talent within their teams.

Key shared accountabilities 

Key interface with BA Manager / Discipline Director and Service Delivery Manager for performance of team, development of capabilities and progress on standardization and automation.  Collaborate with other discipline managers to ensure that capabilities are maximized across teams and projects.  Maintain strong working relationship with Project Director or Managers in Arcadis’ regional offices to ensure progress and changes are communicated and issues are resolved.  Present any project risks or issues to senior managers to ensure the project is not adversely impacted.  In a Task Manager role, manage technical staff to ensure delivery to required time, cost, and quality parameters. Drive project performance by undertaking regular reviews, ensuring delivery is above expectation. Ensure that effective financial and management controls are in place and deployed to enable monitoring, modification and forecasting of GEC tasks while working with the AW Project Manager.  Take part in the development of commercial proposals for Pursuit to Win activities led by regional office staff.

Profile requirements

The candidate should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree and experience leading and growing a significant business function within a multinational engineering or professional services firm. For this role, Arcadis values professional experience across the following priority areas:

Be able to provide technical advice to team members, to support them in their delivery on the project and in their professional development. Provide specialist technical advice to senior management on issues relating to their discipline, providing solutions and actively sharing knowledge for the wider GEC.  Managing change: Managing change at a management level, growing a start-up, or leading change into other market/services or products, operating with new business models, turning around underperforming businesses, programs or teams and driving standardisation and automation.  Data and technology: Adopting data-driven decision making, leveraging data to create and show value. Tech savvy and comfortable and curious about technologies.

Knowledge and Experience 

Able to lead and provide direction and advice to team members, to support them in their delivery and in their professional development and have previous relevant experience including supervising elements of large, complex tasks.  Possess the skills and experience to actively support the internal team and typically assigned to provide a controlling technical role on complex large projects.   Demonstrate appropriate professional standards, recognizing obligations to society, the profession, and the environment and exercise responsibilities in an ethical manner. Able to communicate well with others at all levels, including strong verbal and written English language skills.  Sound knowledge of legislation, hazards, and safe systems of work.  Experience in leading, and working with, people from varied disciplines, backgrounds, and cultures.  Plan for effective project implementation, organization of tasks, people, and resources.  Excellent project management, client relationship management and commercial skills at a level expected of a professional person.  Operate at ‘Practitioner’ level and has attached certification in a professional discipline and experience in building and managing relationships at senior management level, including the ability to act as a trusted advisor. Able to identify, review and select techniques, solutions, procedures, and methods to undertake tasks and able to provide input to estimates for the budget and schedule and to oversee technical resources to meet requirements on large projects.   Experience of coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues and emerging leadership skills and experience of working closely with regional Project Manager to build internal client relationships.  Capable of taking a project from inception through to completion
