Texas A&M Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition Evidence Center (Evidence Center) is a newly created center with the mission to be an authoritative source of objective information and analysis on the Agri-Food system ’s effects on health, the environment, and the economy. The Evidence Center conducts and publishes state-of-the-art research synthesis studies of different types (e.g., systematic reviews, meta -a nalyses) important for understanding the impact of agriculture, food, and nutrition policies on human, environmental, and economic health and sustainability. The Evidence Center drives the next generation of research synthesis methodologies that are rigorous and transparent and acts as a leading convener in gaining global consensus on standards of evidence, as well as promotes and strengthens public trust in science-informed policies and solutions. This position will be located in College Station, Texas and may require travel to the Texas A&M Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Evidence Center located in Fort Worth, Texas. What We Want: The Texas A&M Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition Evidence Center seeks a Business Administrator I who will provide staff support and coordination of a variety of business activities including coordination of HR and Payroll related activities and providing guidance to staff on behalf of the Evidence Center. Essential Duties/Task s The Business Administrator I , under general supervision, provides staff support in a variety of business activities including coordination of HR and Payroll related activities and providing guidance to staff, and requiring independent judgment on behalf of the Texas A&M Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition Evidence Center. + Acts as a liaison with AgriLife Research HR and AgriLife Administrative Services operations on behalf of the Evidence Center. + Performs HR and payroll related duties. Includes all stages from recruitment, pre-hire, hire including processing I9s, onboarding and orientation , current staffing, and employee exit. + Communicates with employees interpreting System policies and procedures and identifies training needs. + Manages and audits all personnel and recruiting files in Laserfiche. + Assists in the resolution of complex, highly sensitive , and confidential personnel matters. Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. + Manages personnel activities, including reviewing and approving leave requests. + Assists with the development of annual budget & research proposal documents for approval and makes recommendations regarding payroll ; assists in the planning, preparation, and implementation of budget activities for payroll purposes . + Assists Evidence Center leadership on special projects related to business needs, particularly in relation to recruitment and hiring; identify issues and growth opportunities for the Evidence Center and provide recommendations. + Serves as a backup for other Evidence Center business processes, such as accounts payable, purchasing , reconciliation, reimbursements, etc. + Assists with annual fiscal year closing activities and draft ing new fiscal year plans related to payroll. + Oversees post-award spending, payroll allocations and assists with budget projections on all Evidence Center grants and contracts in conjunction with the business staff. + Attends AgriLife Business Matters Meetings and other relevant AgriLife meetings. + May supervise business student workers . + Performs o ther duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education and Experience : + Bachelor ’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. + F ive years of related experience. Preferred Experience: + Knowledge of Workday system. + Experience processing HR/Payroll in a university system administration . Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Strong written and verbal communications skills, and excellent interpersonal abilities. + Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. + Proven ability to collaborate with others. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc . + Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Other Requirements and Factors: This position may require travel to the Texas A&M Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Evidence Center located in Fort Worth, Texas.
