Building Services Engineer Job ID 205248 Posted 05-Feb-2025 Service line GWS Segment Role type Full-time Areas of Interest Engineering/Maintenance Location(s) London - England - United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented building service engineer (Electrical) to design and update the electrical systems schematics and compliance documentation across the client EMEA & APAC portfolio. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring that electrical systems are safe, efficient, and compliant with industry standards while supporting innovation and sustainability, combined with a passion for implementing innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** • Read and interpret design schematics to ensure the proper installation of electrical systems. • Perform intrusive and non-intrusive inspection to recreate missing and outdated electrical schematics and layouts using CAD software. • Verify, update, and install (where needed) the NAME-TAG labelling on the incoming and outgoing feeders of LV switchgear, Main Distribution Boards and Sub-Distribution boards. • Ensure that all the labels comply with country electrical standards label sizing, color, and information on the labels. • Perform load imbalanced, grounding & earthing, power factor and other essential power quality testing on electrical systems and equipment. • Recommend safety improvements and adhere to all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and Company directives related to power, energy, and infrastructure projects. • Oversee electrical-focused projects and design tasks on large electrical and non-electrical projects. • Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions. • Act as the primary point of contact for electrical systems related initiatives with internal and external stakeholders. • Work with facility managers, engineers, and third-party consultants to inspect and assess the work done by the electrical staff and contractors. • Contribute to new products, processes, standards, and/or operational plans in support of achieving functional goals. • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. **Qualifications** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. **Education and Experience** • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred) • Proven experience (08+ years) in electrical engineering, with a focus on design, testing, or maintenance. • Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC). • Experience with Medium/Low Voltage Distribution System Shut down/Start Up. • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD) • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or SCADA systems. Communication Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. Certificates and/or Licenses • OSHA/ NEBOSH Certified **Competencies** • Strong understanding of electrical systems (Low Voltage Switchgear, Main Distribution Board, Local DB) and ACB/MCCB/MCB Breakers. • Inspection and testing of Earth switches, Circuit Breakers, Capacitor banks, Battery chargers etc • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills. • Ability to communicate complex electrical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. • Wants to help customers (internal and external) and seeks to provide them with a service which exceeds their needs constantly and consistently. • Takes action and seizes opportunities before being directed by others or overtaken by events. Takes steps to build long-term relationships with customers. • Interested in learning new knowledge and skills to develop their own capabilities and effectiveness. • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex fault and equipment information. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills. **Working Conditions** Workdays typically align with standard office hours, with additional time as required to ensure the successful completion of assigned responsibilities, meeting deadlines, and fulfilling customer requirements based on project demands. This role requires flexibility for travel, up to 75%, in accordance with project requirements. Overtime compensation is not provided.
