Work hours required are M-F 8:15am – 5:15pm and is 100% on site. Occasional evenings/weekends for special events.

Purpose

Under the supervision of the Director of Finance and Administration, the building manager will act as point of contact for building maintenance related issues, computer/non-computer equipment, departmental vehicle maintenance, and small-scale construction projects. Manage the Briscoe Center’s front desk and student staff. Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring that shipments are timely, accurate, and secure.

Responsibilities

Building Maintenance:

Oversee building maintenance, repair, safety, and cleanliness of all Briscoe Center Austin facilities.Point of contact for campus facilities and maintenance groups. Schedule regular building maintenance and janitorial services via UT service ticking system (Works) and report when work is completed. Act as escort to service providers while in the center’s secure locations.Plan and facilitate non-computer equipment and furniture moves and disposal to surplus.Oversee small-scale construction projects. Obtain cost estimates, assist with design plans, and coordinate with 3rd party vendors as needed.Liaise with PMCS, EHS, Facilities, LAITS, and other appropriate university and non-university organizations for repair and maintenance of facility and equipment.Arrange and assist with surplus pickup, cardboard container pickup, and disposal of other large objects from collection material when needed.Manage key inventory, issue key requests, and maintain alarm keypad codes in accordance with UTPD requirements for ANB, SRH, and UTA.Maintain BACS, AED’s, fire extinguishers and other safety and security equipment.Handle emergency situations (medical, fire, evacuations, etc.) with established procedures. Maintain emergency preparedness guide and evacuation plans. Respond to emergent issues when they arise – very occasionally may be in the evening, on weekends, or during holidays.Maintain departmental vehicle including mileage tracking, submit for routine maintenance, relocation on game day, and ensure adequate amount of gasoline for daily usage.Assist Briscoe Center’s Event Coordinator with event set-up/tear-down/clean up as needed.Attend UT’s building manager meetings.

Information Technology:

Maintain and inventory computer and non-computer assets including end-of-life surplus items. Track departmental equipment and perform annual inventory certification.Issue and supervise in-house laptop loans.Maintain A/V equipment and assist with staff and guest presentations.Departmental contact for technical services for new employees, including issuance of computer hardware, server access, video surveillance access and VOIP reset. Interface with LAITS regarding service agreements and procedures. Department admin for software licenses and subscriptions.Department contact for the center’s resource email accounts (DBCAH calendar, Winedale, Events, etc. accounts).

Front Desk:

Hire, supervise, and oversee all aspects of front desk student staff including but not limited to scheduling, backup coverage, daily opening/closing of Briscoe Center exhibit spaces/front desk.

Shipping:

Develop and manage shipping strategy for publications and archival collection material. Work with carriers to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, negotiate rates, and resolve issues.Coordinate transport of archival collections by common carrier and specialized Fine Arts shippers.Coordinate book deliveries and shipments to/from publishers, donors, and VIPs and maintain shipping logs. Track orders, shipments, and material handling. Process documentation, including bills of lading, pick slips, and shipping notices.Maintain book stock inventory.

Required QualificationsAssociates degree in general studies with at least two years of experience in facilities and/or building maintenance.2-3 years of supervisory or lead experience.Proficient in inventory management software and systems.Ability to use basic hand tools and moving equipment, including tape guns, tape measures, dollies, pallet jacks.Basic computer skills required: email, word processing, spreadsheets, scanning.Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Must be able to respond to work emergencies after hours.Ability to travel to satellite locations occasionally.Ability to crouch, bend, grip, climb a ladder, and lift 50-100 lbs. frequently.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business-related or logistics field, or relevant experience in a warehouse or logistics role. Experience supervising student workers.Working knowledge of shipping and receiving laws and regulations.Experience with *DEFINE, UT Works, and eShip Global platforms.2-3 years’ experience managing a large building, lab, or museum.Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for the safe packing, handling, and movement of fine art collections.Packing and distribution experience.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$55,000
