Job Description
Role Overview
This role forms the integral link between Old Mutual and its base of intermediaries, both internally and externally. You will independently manage assigned intermediaries and be responsible for promoting Old Mutual products and brands to Intermediaries and clients via the Intermediaries. You will develop and implement Intermediary strategies and account plans. You will support and advise on all product- related aspects of Old Mutual Corporate products to Intermediaries.

Markets Old Mutual services, products and brand to Intermediaries and clients via intermediaries and direct in call centre settingDevelops and finds new business opportunities to grow Old Mutual Corporates market shareAssists in needs analysisAssists in product selectionDevelops intermediary account strategy and plans in conjunction with Regional ManagerReviews performance of intermediariesProactively identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within client portfolioEnsure that the brokers and clients in the portfolio are serviced at all timesMeets all business targets as set outBuilds relationships with all intermediaries on the panel and those referring clients to consultantsPersuades intermediaries to sell and recommend Old Mutual products and services to clientsOwns the overall relationship with the intermediariesRequirements: Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Matric3-year tertiary qualificationMust be FAIS compliantCFP would be advantageousMinimum of 3 years’ experienceExperience in Employee BenefitsExperience in broker environmentsFinancial services experience preferredUnderstanding of Old Mutual customers and distribution channels advantageousStakeholder management, excellent communication skills and presentation skillsKnowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, Word and CRMResponsible for driving the development of new business opportunities / initiatives either for existing business units or in the process of setting up new business units.ResponsibilitiesBusiness DevelopmentMonitor and assess sales and market data for a specific geographic region and produce reports that will assist management in formulating strategy and identifying areas in the market where business can be developed.
Customer Needs ClarificationSet clear objectives for each sales call or meeting; tailor standard materials to make presentations to decision-makers and influencers within the customer organization; and ask relevant questions to gather information, to evaluate the customer's level of interest, and to identify and respond to areas requiring further information or explanation.
Customer Relationship Development / ProspectingDevelop and implement a relationship management plan for potential customer accounts to identify and build relationships with relevant decision-makers and influencers within the customer organization and to enable effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issues.
Sales Opportunities CreationDevelop a personal network within the sales territory and represent the organization at trade shows and other events to identify sales opportunities, promote the organization, and enhance its reputation.
Sell Customer PropositionsIdentify the products or services that best meet the customer's stated needs, use personal expertise to propose quantities and product configurations, explain the selection to the customer, and invite the customer to make a purchase at the standard price/terms and conditions of sale.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) DataMonitor team members' use of the CRM system, identifying and resolving standard issues and escalating them to a senior manager as appropriate.
Customer Relationship Management / Account ManagementDevelop and implement a relationship management plan for existing customer accounts to identify and build relationships with relevant decision-makers and influencers within the customer organization and to enable effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issues. Collect feedback from identified customers or customer segments to ensure their needs are met, providing themes, summary analyses, and recommendations for changes based on customer input.
Operational ComplianceIdentify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
Personal Capability BuildingDevelop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
