Position Summary: 

MPC has an opportunity for a BP&A Analyst! The South BP&A Supply Analyst supports the Clean Products business for the US Gulf Coast region. This analyst will own commercial and financial analysis for the gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel production for the two largest refineries in MPC’s system. Given all of the production from these two refineries is transferred to the Clean Products Supply P&L, there is a tremendous breadth and scope associated with this role to ensure that there is clarity on the financial impact of product placement decisions, inventory build/draw events, and financial analysis of the affiliate and third-party logistics services. This role will report to the South BP&A Manager and be based in San Antonio, TX. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Provides variance analysis, identifies trends, and offers preliminary commentary for monthly and quarterly operational and financial performance results for the South Clean Products Commercial team. 

Assists in the development of business plans, forecasts, and expense budgets, gathers data, updates models and assists with preparing presentations. 

Conducts detailed commercial financial analysis and trend identification, identifying discrepancies or deviations from expectations versus forecasted results. Provides initial insights to senior team members. 

Maintains financial models or develops medium-complexity models to support monitoring of KPIs and performance metrics or other ad hoc requests. 

Collaborates with Clean Products South divisional team members, participates in meetings to discuss analysis and/or analytical needs to support ongoing improvement. 

Identifies areas for process improvement within the BP&A function, proposing changes to improve efficiency and accuracy. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline required. Economics/Finance majors preferred.

3-6 years plus in Finance, Economics or related field required.  

Experience with data visualization tools strongly preferred. 

May need to travel up to 10% of the time.
