Job Specification: Bookkeeper in Manufacturing Industry – Cape Town

Position Overview:
Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their manufacturing company in Cape Town. The Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in bookkeeping, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of finance and accounting principles in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accounts payable/receivable, expenses, and revenue. Prepare and process monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and accounting standards. Record all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, stock movements, and production costs, ensuring complete and accurate documentation. Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to support management decision-making. Conduct regular bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational needs. Collaborate with internal departments and external auditors to ensure compliance with financial regulations and provide necessary documentation during audits. Manage and reconcile stock inventories, coordinating with production and warehousing teams to ensure accurate valuation and control of goods. Process payroll and maintain accurate records of staff salaries, benefits, and deductions. Assist in preparing tax returns and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. Stay updated on industry changes and advancements in financial software and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role in a manufacturing industry. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes. Experience working with bookkeeping software and MS Office, particularly Excel. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently, meeting deadlines with high quality work. Knowledge of South African tax laws and regulations is preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity, ensuring data security and accuracy. Professional certification in bookkeeping, such as Certified Bookkeeper, is a plus.
