Job Summary: The park-wide Boiler Technician is a full-time, year-round position and is based out of Mammoth Hot Springs. This position will assist maintenance teams at all Xanterra locations throughout Yellowstone National Park with troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance issues. Discounts in and around Yellowstone Over 1,000 miles of hiking trails inside the park itself Fresh air, breathtaking views, and clear night skies World-class wildlife viewing of bison, elk, moose, wolves, bears, and more Approximately 500 geysers (the largest concentration in the world) and hot springs, including Grand Prismatic, the third largest in the world Responsibilities Responsible for the operation and maintenance of steam and hot water boilers located within Xanterra land assignments in Yellowstone National Park to meet the needs of company operations Oversee all location seasonal Boiler Tech’s to ensure proper preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance is being completed to industry standards in a timely manner, while working in conjunction with the Location Maintenance Managers as the subject matter expert Develop and provide Boiler Safety training to location maintenance personnel to ensure that all boiler plants are operating safely, are in good working condition and remain in compliance with current health and safety regulations Manage boiler water treatment chemical program and coordinate third-party chemical testing and chemical supply companies to maintain proper chemical balance in boiler systems Ensure appropriate inventory levels of boiler parts and supplies are established, maintained, and accurately captured in the company’s CMMS. Responsible for inventory and assistance with annual audit review Assist in the development, periodic review and continuous improvement of preventative maintenance protocols and procedures Review and comment on plans and drawings to assist in choosing equipment that will meet the needs and requirements of boiler plants and systems Perform, track, and report work associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of equipment, using paper and on-line Boiler Chemistry Logs, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and work order logs Use the appropriate tools and materials needed for the completion of work orders in a safe and efficient manner Communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with a polite demeanor and professional appearance Self-motivated, able to work independently with limited supervision, and willing to occasionally work overtime and/or nights Qualifications Must possess an applicable, valid, boiler operator’s license Must possess knowledge of operation and design of boilers and related equipment, as well as proper maintenance and preventative maintenance procedures Must possess advanced mechanical aptitude required to perform predictive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance for all commercial and residential boilers Knowledge of all tools and materials required to efficiently start up, maintain, repair, and shut down commercial boiler equipment and related systems Be receptive to training and be able to quickly acquire new skills and knowledge Basic computer skills Flexibility to adjust to new situations or changes in assignments or procedures A working knowledge of applicable OSHA and NFPA safety regulations and requirements, including the ability to recognize and correct unsafe work practices or equipment installations which do not meet Code Ability to mentor and train less experienced Maintenance staff Ability to use innovation, professional curiosity, patience, and tenacity when faced with new or perplexing issues Physical Requirements include: This position may require the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations May require work in confined spaces and permit-required confined spaces Able to walk up to a half mile over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, stand, bend, kneel and crawl in all types of weather conditions at elevations exceeding 6,000 ft Capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds Must be able to differentiate colors and shading as required for boiler water testing Possess physical stamina to perform heavy labor in an outside environment Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
