Body Technician
Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Using standard tools and methods, prepares ambulance modular box for bodywork. Performs bodywork and prepares box for paint operations. Sands and prepares modular box. Applies bondo compound to areas of box that require smoothing. Grind and sand bondoed areas to develop a smooth, paintable finish. Apply tape and paper to box in preparation for painting and other operations. Performs other duties as assigned

Working conditions - Typical body shop environment. Hot/cold/dusty. May work earlier shift to avoid heat during summer months. 

Equipment operation - Uses an Orbital Sander and DA sander. Will wear respiratory equipment in accordance with Company respiratory protection 


 

Work Experience

Educational - HS diploma/GED preferred. Must be able to read and write. Physical - Must be able to push and lift up to approximately 80 pounds. This position involves manual labor using assigned tools. This position requires the individual to reach, stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and twist to accomplish tasks. Individual will be in various \"positions\" throughout the workday. 

May occasionally be required to work overtime. 

Experience - A minimum of 6 months work experience is required using an Orbital Sander and DA Sander with familiarity/skills in an automotive body shop. Ability to work with hand tools, sanders, and buffing equipment. Must be able to follow instructions, have a good attitude and strong work ethic. Must have good attendance and a stable work history.
