Location
Responsibilities Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of your vessel at all times unless it requires a mechanic. The vessel will be cleaned after every trip.All rods, reels, fish holds, coolers, down riggers shall all be rinsed and cleaned as well as the head and interior of vessel.All trash will be removed and bagged and taken to the dumpster by the captain. No trash will be left directly on the dock.All cups, towels, coffee, and drinks are the responsibility of the Captain and will be provided by the Marina.Captains can be required to clean fish at any time when asked by the Marina Manager.Captains will record all fueling in a fuel Log.A mandatory uniform will be required while on all Salmon Falls fishing trips.All fish will be separated by the captain into the guest binds and tagged before being processed as well as hung up for photos by the Captain and dockhand.Captains will give the guest a full 8-hour trip to leave no earlier than 630 a.m. and be back no later than 4 p.m. unless specified by Marina Manager.Captains will clock in when doing work outside of their regular trip pay. All engine fluids will be checked before leaving the marina as well as emptying the waste when the proper mileage is met offshore.All mechanical issues will be reported to Marina Manager ASAP to then be communicated to Mechanic.Captains will be required to learn local history and Mountain ranges in order to give our guest a great experience. This also means exploring new fishing grounds throughout the summer.May be asked to help with the processing of fish using vacuum sealer and freezer boxes.May have to drive shuttle if help is needed.May be asked to drive guest in RV back to the lodge.Other duties as assigned by my supervisor. Qualifications Strong oral communication skills.Excellent interpersonal communication skills.Proven record of being able to safely operate a fishing vessel in calm and rough seas.A vast knowledge of the Southeast Alaska waters fishing for Rockfish, Halibut, and Salmon.Knowledge of local area, mountain ranges, wildlife, etc.Ability to work 8 to 10-hour days for the duration of the summer with limited time off.Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out job instructions. Able to work in various weather related conditions in wet and humid conditions.Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb, balance; kneel, crouch, crawl or perceive odors or scents.The employee must be able to lift and bend to lift up to 60 pounds, and to push or pull a minimum of 120 lbs. of various sizes of packages, coolers or boxes.Continually standing, lifting, pulling.All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards are available).Must maintain a good working relationship with other departments, employees and guests.Must be able to interface daily with the public, and to provide support to those who interface with the public daily.6 pack Captains license or greater High School Diploma or GED2 + years’ experience in Southeast Alaska waters as a guide
Salary Range: $250 - $450/day plus tips
