The Manager Computational Sciences will lead projects and teams within a Computational Sciences area. This position will monitor and manage the coordination of activities within a team and will proactively anticipate and understand concerns and issues while engaging with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment between multiple teams. Job Summary The Biostatistics Shared Resource | St. Jude Research (BSR) is a campus-wide shared resource that provides comprehensive biostatistics and data science support to researchers at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The BSR is housed within the Department of Biostatistics and serves as one of the shared resources within the St. Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center. The BSR Manager (Mgr - Computational Sciences) is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, and supervision of BSR non-faculty personnel, project management, administrative support to the BSR Director in preparation of reports and presentations to the BSR Advisory Committee and senior leadership, coordination with the department IT group in the project tracking system, and coordination with the department administration in terms of space and financial management. Job Responsibilities: Lead projects/teams within the Biostatistics Shared Resource, including the creation and management of project plans in alignment with overall program goals. Monitor and manage the coordination of activities within a team, implement policies, and execute plans. Proactively anticipate and understand concerns/issues and delays in the project/implementation of plans and develop risk assessment and contingency plans. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment between multiple teams. Ensure all projects and tasks are executed within predefined timelines and budgets in compliance with all applicable standards & regulations. Mentor and guide team members and ensure they have all the resources required to complete their assigned tasks. Engage in hiring, performance management, and other people’s processes of BSR non-faculty personnel. Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor's degree in computational or related life-science field Master's degree in computational or related life-science field preferred Minimum Experience: Five plus (5+) years of progressive experience in Computational Sciences including experience managing at least 1-2 people preferred. Extensive experience leading projects/processes end to end including resource and vendor management, and communication and collaboration with internal cross-functional teams and external partners preferred. Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
