Biostatistician

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Biostatistician to support our government customer located in San Antonio.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide support to research investigators and protocols by generating/analyzing data and providing information in the form of publications, posters and presentations related to pre-hospital and prolonged field care combat casualty care mission. Provide support to the PI by way of developing and analyzing a variety of research data using statistical methods. Develop/analyze a variety of research data using statistical methods. Assists researchers in developing appropriate study protocols and computer analyses. Keep abreast of the latest statistical modeling and computing tools and participate in the development and selection of appropriate statistical methods and tests, sample size calculations and creation of randomization schedules. Prepare statistical method sections for inclusion in study protocols.  Review the design and content of database designs and data edit checks.  Develop and validate SAS programs to support statistical analyses.  Provide interpretations of statistical results and prepare the relevant statistical sections for study reports. Create/maintain biostatistical documentation, including descriptions of methods, sas programs and results.  Participate in the development of standardization procedures for statistical functions. This shall include review/audit of statistical analysis plans, sas programs, and statistical reports including tables/listings/figures. Evaluate and propose new statistical methods for data analysis. Review and help prepare statistical and database management sections of grant applications and proposals prior to submission. Write statistical methods section of manuscripts for publication. Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Masters degree in related biomedical or biostatistical field and 5 years of related experience PHD in related degree and 3 years or relevant experience

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of the principles, concepts, methods, and standards of statistical research. Experience applying a range of advanced statistical techniques to collect, analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions from scientific research studies and/or experiments. Experience consulting with a multi-disciplinary group of scientific investigators and researchers to determine research requirements and develop statistical analysis strategies. Ability to provide guidance on sample size determination, experimental layout, and data collection methods. Knowledge of statistical software such as R, SAS, STATA, or SPSS for data analysis and modeling. Ability to provide insight on findings through reports, graphs, and other visual means. Presentation experience at lectures, seminars, and scientific conferences. Experience contributing to the publication of research findings, ensuring statistical soundness. Ability to contribute to grant writing processes with a focus on the statistical design and analysis components. Knowledge of current and emerging trends in advanced statistical analysis for scientific application.
