Type: Temporary, Full Time, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $20.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, Day Shift, 10 weeks, flexible internship start and end date, approximately May-September 2025
The Benefits Department Intern will work closely with the Benefits, Workers Compensation, and Safety teams to create a cohesive work atmosphere. They will assist with various projects and provide administrative support as requested.
Attend and assist with New Hire Orientations
Create, update, and re-organize benefit and wellness related materials
Collaborate with Communications Team to create and send appropriate correspondence and materials for wellness and benefits related events
Manage mail projects including but not limited to print materials and prepare them for mail out, organize and create packets for future mailouts
Work within Canva to create materials including but not limited to flyers, enrollment guides, meeting memos, and trifolds for dissemination to all sites
Maintain benefits document filing cabinet, to ensure accessibility, organization, and appropriate stock levels of materials (enrollment packets, separation packets, 401K materials, etc.)
Complete actions in Workday including but not limited to entering new hire documents and non-sensitive forms, upload documents, and enter information as needed
Reach out to employees via phone for tasks like address updates, scheduling appointments with administrators, etc.
Assist with Benefits training program development to include testing current procedures for ease of understanding
Assist with high level projects and group brainstorming
Create or update internal training presentations
Process workers compensation folders including label the folder, print all workers compensation documents (doctors notes, injury worksheet, etc.) for physical file, and other tasks as needed
Scan incoming mail and email to Benefits and Workers Compensation Groups and save to electronic files
Maintain a professional and positive attitude
Work on a collaborative intern cohort team project
Attend intern team meetings and trainings

Summary of Experience for the Skookum Benefits Intern:
Preferably in the process of obtaining a BA/BS in Human Resources or a closely related field.
A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
Computer data management and word processing skills.
Ability to maintain a high standard of confidentiality, time management, organizational, and communication skills.
Valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum’s insurance.
