Position Description
Provides direct patient care and supportive services to patients with mental health disorders as well as chemically dependent patients to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients. Carries out a variety of patient care activities which support the maintenance of the therapeutic milieu and which meet the patient’s needs for comfort and safety.
For ED only: In addition to the listed duties and responsibilities, is deemed competent to perform the duties and responsibilities listed in the Emergency Department Technician I (JCC 914) job description.
Emergency Department:
Assist in the admission process, including obtaining vital signs, safety search of patients and personal belongings, obtaining urine specimens and orienting new patients to the unit and their program Takes and records vital signs. Observe, identifies and reports any changes in patient condition to RN or MD. Provide for patient’s nutritional needs by observing intake, assisting when appropriate and recording significant date on flow sheet. Assist with inventory of unit supplies, including nourishments, and communicates and need to the Charge Nurse.Position Requirements
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other behavioral health related fields, with 1 year of experience in the behavioral health field OR, Associates Degree and 3 years’ experience in inpatient setting, OR 5 years of experience in inpatient psychiatric settings BLS/CPR certification
