Primary Objective: In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.
Operates Beamer running tricot-sized beams onto a single loom beam in accordance with standard operating procedures. Will perform other related duties assigned by management.
Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.
Operates beamer and observes yarn to detect breaks and tangles. Repair broken ends, when needed. Ensures proper alignment and speed of beamer. Adheres to quality standards. Completes various check sheets and paperwork. Operates powered industrial equipment. Replace empty propane tank on powered industrial truck when necessary. Sets tricots behind beamer using powered industrial truck. Unload/load tricots using overhead crane. Ties in tricots. Pulls tricot ends to tie-in rack. Rack and tie tricot ends using knotter machine. Run knots onto loom beam. Check for doubles at tie in. Blow comb out at each tie-in. Doff full loom beam and replace with empty loom beam. Inspect all loom beams before loading and fill out checklist. Check barrel in journal for cracks. Check lube every 2,000 yards. Uses computer to issues tricots to beamer and create beam tickets for each beam doffed. Cuts waste from beam, if necessary. Operates warp truck. Changes warp truck battery, when needed. Wears required personal protective equipment for task at hand. Gloves must be worn when handling beams or tricots. Beamer must be stopped before operator enters creel behind tricot. Operator may work inside creel only when the beamer speed is slow or creep. Operators may not sit on motor covers in creel. When an operator is in the creel, the other operator must be stationed at controls in creel section unless multiple ends are out on various tricots. When this occurs, the supervisor or lead person will have someone to assist at the controls. One operator procedure is to stay out of creel and allow end to come up and hit eye board then stop top the beamer to repair the end. Operators may enter the catwalk only when the beamer is in slow, creep, or stop mode. All chains are to be hooked when beamer is in operation. Do not reach over the chains in the beaming area. Use UHMW stick to smooth and straighten out ends coming off the tricots or running onto the loom beam while the Beamer is running. Remove/insert press roll (2-person job). Replace end caps if it can be done safely, if not call maintenance. General Duties Participate in Safety programs and Neighborhood Watch. Works safely and orderly. Notify supervision of any hazardous or unsafe conditions. Maintains clean and orderly work area. Perform all necessary miscellaneous work pertaining to the above job duties. Any other duties assigned by management. Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision Follow all established standard operating procedures Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary Perform other tasks assigned by management Operates the pull off Machine safely and follows procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES:
Mandatory – Must be able to read and write in manner indicated on job application.
Preferred – Previous experience operating a powered industrial truck in a production environment. Basic computer skills to enter data into computer system.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work assigned schedule. Must have ability to obtain a powered industrial equipment license. Ability to learn job specific computer skills. Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition and subtraction.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports to shift supervisor/department manager but works with minimum amount of supervision.
DIRECTION EXERCISED:
Limited to personal activities required to perform duties of job.
Competencies: Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities.
Must maintain high standards for work quality and safety. Must be a self-starter and be able to move from one task to another without direction. Must be able to work effectively with other members of the beaming team. Must be able to read and follow directions and work procedures. Basic computer knowledge to enter data. Ability to perform detailed work with yarn, including tracing ends, separating doubles, tying knots, and placing ends in the correct dents on a comb.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Frequency – Amount – Description)
STANDING / WALKING:
Ability to stand or walk continuously during a twelve (12) hour shift.
SITTING:
Ability to sit on seat of powered industrial truck for a short period of time.
MOVING SELF:
Ability to move about extrusion/beaming area continuously in a twelve (12) hour shift.
CLIMBING:
Ability to climb a step ladder to repair ends and lease loom beam. Ability to ascend/descend powered industrial truck. Ability to climb steps to catwalk.
MOVING (MATERIALS): (Lifting – carrying – pushing – pulling)
Pushing/pulling – Pull tricot ends to tie-in rack. Push not pull any (movable type) equipment.Lifting/carrying – Ability to lift knotter and place on tie-in rack. Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds without mechanical assistance. Get help if needed.
HEARING / SPEAKING:
Must be able to communicate with co-workers and management as needed to perform job.
REACHING:
Vertical – Ability to reach full arm extension to perform job duties.
Horizontal – Ability to reach full arms extension to perform job duties.
VISUAL ACUITY:
Must have adequate normal, color vision and depth perception to perform job duties. Ability to utilize both near and far visions while performing job duties. Ability to draw ends through the comb.
BENDING / STOOPING:
Ability to bend, squat, stoop, or kneel throughout a twelve (12) hour shift, as needed.
MENTAL ABILITIES:
Ability to make decisions regarding work priorities. Ability to read and understand computer screen charts. Ability to learn computer system instructions. Ability to obtain powered industrial equipment license. Ability to operate overhead crane.
OTHER:
Fingering - Ability to demonstrate good tactile discrimination and functional sensations.
Medium motor manipulation – N/A
Fine motor coordination – Ability to use fine motor coordination while entering data in computer. Ability to push and turn buttons and knobs throughout a twelve (12) hour shift. Ability to draw ends through comb.
Grip – Ability to utilize both a one handed and two-handed grip. Ability to hold onto group of ends when pulling.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Must wear hearing protection, safety shoes and safety glasses with permanent side shields when in the warehouse and production areas. Must adhere to plant clothing and footwear policy. Wear additional personal protective equipment as required by task at hand.

Beamer, crane, tricot beam, loom beam, beam truck, scissors, reed hook, utility knife, computer, printer, powered industrial equipment, tie-in rack, knotter, chocks, UHMW stick, and chains.
MATERIALS USED:
Tricot yarn, printer tickets, printer ribbon, plastic pouch, wire ties, tape, lube and lease string.
