Posting Summary
The Basic Needs Coordinator focuses on capacity building for both on-campus and off-campus resources to point UVM students to essential needs — food, shelter, clothing, and healthcare. Lead and organize student volunteers to provide direct support to students for basic needs so that students can participate in the educational experience at UVM . Provide process guidance for students applying to 3SquaresVT ( SNAP ). Develop and facilitate workshops on basic needs topics and train volunteers. Through collaborations with campus organizations and community partners, create a network of support for students. Organize and share information about all resources for basic needs in ways that are easy for students to access and understand. By fostering a culture of support and empowerment, contribute to the overall well-being and success of students at UVM .
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in Community Social Work, Systems Development, Public Health, Community Development, Food Systems, or a related field. 1-3 years of engagement experience in higher ed, inclusive of undergraduate experience (RA, Student Government, etc.). Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field as listed above. 3+ years’ experience in capacity building and volunteer recruitment and management. Relevant experience in student support services, community outreach, or program coordination, particularly in areas related to basic needs and food security, is highly desirable.
Anticipated Pay Range $50,000-$65,000/annually
Other Information
Special Conditions Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Background Check required for this position

Union Position Yes, UVMSU ($20 minimum hourly rate)
