SUMMARY

The BAS Design - Team Lead is responsible for leading the design and development of building automation systems (BAS) while managing a team of designers. This role requires expertise in BAS platforms and extensive experience with Visio for system drawings and documentation. The Team Lead will oversee design processes, ensure project deliverables meet quality standards, and foster team growth through mentorship and development initiatives.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and Development

· Lead the design of BAS systems, including control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and sequence of operations.

· Utilize Visio to create detailed system schematics and ensure accurate documentation.

· Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and field technicians to align design solutions with project requirements.

 

Team Leadership and Development

· Supervise and mentor a team of BAS designers.

· Facilitate training sessions to enhance team proficiency with design tools and industry standards.

· Coordinate workload distribution and manage team performance to meet project deadlines.

 

Quality Assurance and Technical Oversight

· Review and approve design documents, ensuring compliance with industry codes and client specifications.

· Provide technical guidance during design reviews and project planning stages.

· Resolve design-related issues and support field teams during installation and commissioning.

 

Documentation and Reporting

· Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including system architecture diagrams and equipment schedules.

· Maintain records of design iterations, technical decisions, and client communications.

 

Customer Engagement

· Act as the primary technical contact for clients during the design phase.

· Conduct design presentations and workshops to align client expectations.

· Address client feedback and integrate changes into design deliverables.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

· 7+ years of experience in BAS design, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

· Proficiency in Visio for creating detailed system diagrams.

· Deep understanding of HVAC systems, control strategies, and communication protocols.

· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

· Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.

 

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.

· Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or equivalent technical certification.

· Manufacturer certifications in relevant BAS platforms.

· Design software certifications (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio) are advantageous.
