Banquet Houseperson - InterContinental New York Times Square
**_DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:_** + Set-up and/or break-down tables, dance floors, chairs, easels, and platforms/stages and other equipment as specified by group requirements. Set-up table linens, skirting and table top items (including but not limited to water pitchers, glasses, utensils, supplies, brochures, waste baskets, candies, pads, pens, etc.) + Clean, store, and secure in an organized manner all tables, chairs, supplies, equipment, platforms/stages, buffet tables, registration tables and any other equipment used for banquet functions. + Replenish items in refrigeration units as needed, including but not limited to soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and water. + Maintain cleanliness of banquet rooms, banquet hallways, storage and service areas. + Inspect cleanliness and working condition of all equipment to be set up in function area. Report all damages or issues to Supervisor. + Polish glassware required for functions + Ensure meeting rooms are well maintained, closets stocked with appropriate materials such as hangers. + Vacuum function room carpeting at various times to maintain cleanliness before, in-between, and after functions and as required. Spot clean carpet if necessary. + Maintain a dust –free Banquet area by dusting items including but not limited to lighting fixtures, mirrors, TVs, pictures, sconces, electronic signage, doors, furniture surfaces, vents, stainless steel borders, walls, baseboards, buffet tables and registration tables. + Stock supplies, including but not limited to water pitchers, plates, pens/pencils, number stands, candy, bottled water, decorative items, brochures, and supplies requested by guests. + Refresh room during breaks (replenish supplies, water pitchers, candy,etc.) as needed. + Maintain and conduct inventory of linen/equipment/tables/chairs; retrieve clean linen, skirting, fold, steam linens as needed; stock linens, napkins, skirting for service in storage areas. + Pick-up and deliver all boxes/crates and materials required for functions including but not limited to brochures, special food or beverage items, rental furniture, floral supplies/arrangements, Banquet Department supplies for functions, special guest materials/supplies/equipment, coat racks + Manage “Sqbs” hand held scanner system. Sign and scan all packages. + Move/remove hotel furniture required for functions including but no limited to chairs, tables, buffets, bars, display bars, rental furniture, stools, coffee tables, special carpets. + Clean and maintain all service carts. + Clean and recycles vacuum bags. Participate in all hotel recycling programs. + Clean podium bar back and bars, make sure they are covered. + Maintain cleanliness of all banquet storage space. + Remove and discard empty boxes, trash, bringing items to loading dock trash compactor for disposal. + Ensure Banquet rooms/spaces are secured when not in use, lights turned off. + Perform other duties as assigned. + Open/close and maintain airwalls. **_Qualifications and Requirements:_** Basic reading and writing and mathematical skills. General knowledge of banquet operations preferred. This job requires ability to perform the following: + Handling, moving, pushing, carrying or lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds (tables, chairs, trays, equipment, etc.) + Moving about the function areas. + Moving about for prolonged periods of time. + Bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching Other: + Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests, coworkers, and supervisors. + Reading and writing abilities are utilized often with banquet event orders and instructions. + Basic math is used frequently to ensure the proper set up of tables, settings, chairs, etc. + Will be required to work mornings, afternoons, nights, overnights, weekends, and/or holidays. **Work Area: Banquet Rooms/Space/Kitchens/Dishwasher area/Storage areas/Restaurant Area/Guest Room areas/Loading dock** The salary for this role is $43.24 USD. This reflects the minimum to maximum salary range. This range is only applicable for this job to be performed in NY.
