Hybrid work
Udemy is headquartered in San Francisco with global offices in Australia, India, Ireland, Türkiye, and other US locations. Our robust hybrid work model spans San Francisco, Denver, Ankara, Dublin, and Melbourne. This role will be based in Türkiye.

Udemy is searching for a Backend Engineer who embodies our values of authenticity, continuous learning, experimentation, being results-oriented, and being individually humble, yet collectively proud. We expect you to be an experienced practitioner of Python and Django. We expect you to be a continuous advocate and agent of DevOps principals - CI/CD pipelines, automation and infrastructure as code.

What you'll be doing:
Your primary role will be supporting the Udemy Python Services and the associated ecosystems. Udemy has Python applications using the Django framework with React frontends.
In this role you will work with our developers to improve the Developer Experience, speed up testing and CI/CD flows as well as participate in code reviews, and work closely with many dev teams as they interact with the large and complex python code base. You’ll also be responsible for fixing critical bugs, applying essential security patches and upgrades. You will collaborate closely with sister teams in Platform Services, Production Engineering and Data Stores Infrastructure.
What you’ll have:
3+ Years of Experience as a backend developer
3+ Years of Experience with Python on a large scale
3+ Years of Experience with Django Framework
Experience with relational databases/SQL
Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable backend architectures
Hands-on experience with cloud services
Ability to design and optimise unit/integration tests
Practitioner in DataDog or similar monitoring tools
CI/CD Tooling (Github Actions preferred, Jenkins or TeamCity acceptable)
Ability to communicate effectively, work with peers, and come up with creative solutions
