As a Backup and Recovery Operations Engineer, you will participate as a member of the North America Operations team, using your knowledge and experience to help with coordination of overall Backup and recovery Operations. In this role you will be managing daily data backup systems and jobs globally to ensure data protection, availability, and security. This subject matter expert also oversees the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure job scheduling, backup efficiency, capacity management, offsite replication, archival and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Provide day-to-day operational oversight for Chubb’s backup services.

 

Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the Rubrik Backup and Recovery infrastructure, ensuring effective operations. Assist in modernizing operational capabilities for backup and recovery solutions to enhance efficiency. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to backup and recovery performance and incidents. Conduct ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as necessary. Implement preventative maintenance routines to maintain system performance, availability, and security. Configure and manage backup and recovery tools while defining and maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Serve as the escalation point for backup and recovery issues across various systems, including Windows, Linux, Unix (AIX), databases, NAS, file servers, and VMware infrastructure. Collaborate with the team to establish standards and best practices for backup and recovery technologies, while preparing documentation and procedures according to organizational standards.

Qualifications:

Hands-on Experience: Practical experience in Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery technologies at both server and datacenter levels. Networking Knowledge: Good understanding of networking concepts and technologies, supporting effective disaster recovery and data management. Rubrik Proficiency: Familiarity with Rubrik technology is advantageous, enhancing backup and recovery capabilities. Broad Technology Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge across various tech domains, including Backup and Recovery, Virtualization, Storage, Networking, and Data Center Migration. Analytical Skills: Possesses strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting. Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitating collaboration with global teams and documentation of root causes and remediation strategies. Self-Motivation and Independence: Self-driven with the ability to manage workload independently while effectively working within team dynamics. Scripting and Virtualization Experience: Skills in scripting/automation are a plus, along with experience in virtualization technologies, particularly VMWare.
