This role has a corresponding incentive plan based on multiple factors. incentive compensation and additional benefits can be found on our Rush benefits page (https://www.rush.edu/rush-careers/employee-benefits) **Summary:** The Deputy Chief Investment Officer (‘Deputy CIO’) will serve a key role in managing and overseeing the organization’s investment strategies and portfolio performance. Reporting directly to the Chief Investment Officer (‘CIO’), the Deputy CIO will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of investment policies, strategies and processes to achieve the organization’s financial objectives. In addition, the position will be responsible for leading the investment process and implementation for private markets investments including but not limited to buyout, growth equity, venture capital and private debt. The Deputy CIO will work collaboratively with investment partners and other stakeholders to ensure the safekeeping of the organization’s assets and that all objectives of the investment program are met. The investment program shall be managed consistent with the responsibilities of a fiduciary or steward of public trust and in support of RUSH’s mission, vision and values. **Other information:** Requirements **Education:** Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business administration, finance, economics, or a related field required. Master’s degree and/or CFA, CAIA certification preferred. **Experience:** Demonstrated progressive responsibility in investment management with a minimum of 10-15 years experience. Proven track record of managing complex portfolio and driving performance. Experience in multiple asset classes, including public and private markets, is desirable. **Skills:** Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Excellent leadership and communication skills, capability of engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Deep understanding of risk management, asset allocation and investment strategies. Proficiency in financial modeling, portfolio management software, and market research tools. **Abilities:** Strategic thinking and problem-solving. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and organizational priorities. Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to leadership. **Responsibilities:** Leadership • Collaborate with the CIO to design and execute the organization’s investment policy and strategies. • Contribute to the development of asset allocation frameworks to achieve investment objectives as informed by organization’s long-term financial plan. • Assist in managing and refining investment policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks. • Serve as a thought leader on private markets to guide portfolio construction and asset allocation decisions. Investment Management • Develop and execute a comprehensive private markets investment strategy aligned with the organization’s long-term goals. • Source, evaluate and lead due diligence of private market investment opportunities including fund commitments , co-investments and direct investments. • Oversee the negotiation of terms and agreements with fund managers and other relevant parties in collaboration with legal and operations teams. • Monitor portfolio performance ensuring investments meet return objectives and risk parameters. • Maintain strong relationships with fund managers, general partners, institutional investors, and industry networks. • Assist with the implementation of processes and technologies to enhance investment decision-making and portfolio management efficiency. Team Development • Provide mentorship, guidance and support to the investment team, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development. • Lead internal discussions on organizational performance, portfolio strategy and market trends. Board & Investor Relations • Establish and foster relationships with the broader investment community to maintain the organization’s access to industry thought leaders and best-in class asset managers. • Assist in the development of and preparation of materials for Board meetings including sound and properly analyzed policy and manager recommendations.
