JOB SUMMARY

The Autopsy Tech assists pathologists with autopsies as well as the accepting, processing, and releasing of deceased persons. Operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation as well as records and documentation.

\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\nPrepares instruments and equipment for pathologists performing autopsies.\nPrepares decedents for autopsy as well as assists in the performance of autopsies including organ weighing, specimen collection, preservation, and storage.\nLifts and transports decedents within building by hand and/or equipment.\nTransports collected specimens to the Laboratory for testing.\nPerforms sanitation and housekeeping duties in the examining room and morgue.\nMaintains logs, blocks, slides, and other materials.\nAssist in overseeing activities and education of Residents in the autopsy area.\nOperates, troubleshoots, and maintains morgue instrumentation.\n\n
