Assignment is subject to change according to business needs. + The Light Automotive Technician will be responsible for preventive maintenance services, diagnosing and the repairing of automobiles and light trucks to include drivability, suspension systems, brake systems, engine, and transmission. + The Heavy Equipment Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing commercial and diesel vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery to include troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; reading and understanding hydraulic and electrical schematics; troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines (Cat, Cummins, Detroit); and maintaining routine maintenance schedules on all Heavy Equipment. + The Fire Apparatus Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing fire apparatus to include troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; reading and understanding hydraulic and electrical schematics; troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines (Cat, Cummins, Detroit); and maintaining routine maintenance schedules. Enhances schedules on all Fire Equipment. Hiring Salary Range + Level I: $37,833 – $58,641 ($18.19 – $28.19) Grade A133 + Level II: $41,062 - $65,699 ($19.74 - $31.59 hourly) Grade B213 + Level III: $48,658 - $77,853 ($23.39 - $37.43 hourly) Grade B233 For eligible employees Fleet Management will provide skills evaluation, preparation and funding for ASE certification/re-certification in accordance with County policies. Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Minimum Qualifications Level I: + High School Diploma or G.E.D + Valid driver's license + Commercial Driver’s License within 12 months according to area of assignment + 6 months automotive or heavy truck/ equipment experience + Must be able to work four 10-hour shifts from 7:00am-6:00pm (Mon -Thurs or Tue-Fri) + Schedule is subject to change according to business needs Level I is eligible for promotion to Level II upon obtaining the appropriate qualifications (see below). Level II: + High School Diploma or G.E.D + Four (4) years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and vehicles + Valid driver's license + Four (4) ASE certifications in area of assignment OR + Any combination of verifiable industry or manufacturer specific certifications will be considered, at the department's discretion, in lieu of ASE Certifications when applicable. ASE Certifications will be required within 12 months of employment + Commercial Driver’s License within 12 months according to area of assignment + A/C Recycle Recovery Certificate within 90 days of employment + Must be able to work four 10-hour shifts from 7:00am-6:00pm (Mon -Thurs or Tue-Fri) + Schedule is subject to change according to business needs Level II is eligible for promotion to Level III upon obtaining the appropriate qualifications (see below).
