Automation Engineer

Position Summary

The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting software tools used by Infection Prevention Technology (IPT) teams to develop and test new and existing products. Creating tools to test products requires both a good understanding of the product and the technologies used by the product, the position requires constant learning of novel technologies and tools.

What you will do as an Automation Engineer

•    Develop new features and capabilities for in house python-based automation framework.
•    Identify and evaluate new tools, equipment, and techniques that can expand the scope of testing that can be automated.
•    Create adapters and interfaces based on API and technical documentation.
•    Create user documentation for the tools.
•    Provide user support and debugging for the tools.
 

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

 

Required:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer science, or Electrical Engineering. (A degree in another Engineering discipline may be acceptable with proven software education and/or training and demonstrated software experience.) 5 years of progressive engineering experience in the development and maintenance of embedded software automation framework. Experience in developing and maintaining Python application/automation framework using libraries like NumPy, SciPy. Read and can understand C, C++, C# Familiarity in Enterprise Software like Git, Azure, Jira, Jama. Experience working with National Instruments is required. Strong knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and hardware Communication Protocols like TCP/IP, RS232, RS485, CAN, CANOpen, REST, MQTT, ZeroMQ. Experience with Arduino and Raspberry Pi development a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. What STERIS Offers
