The Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) is among the world’s largest and most experienced organization effectively treating individuals of all ages who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Authorizations Scribe is responsible for assisting with the writing and submission of supplemental patient forms. The Authorizations Scribe will report to the Director of Authorizations. This position is an hourly, full-time position that will report to the Director of Authorizations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage a high volume of patient/payor-specific forms, completing each form as required for preauthorization of ABA treatment
Assist with updating forms used by the CARD Authorizations department
Assist with clinical and insurance projects as assigned by the Director of Authorizations
Coordinate effectively with staff across all departments to ensure timely and accurate submission of documentation to insurance
Become proficient in practice software as a tracking and documentation tool
Maintain accurate data related to which payers require forms and information required for accurate submission of forms
Amend authorizations in response to payor denials and/or requests
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
2+ years’ experience in ABA implementation or documentation of treatment goals and progress
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Highly organized
Strong writing skills
Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
Ability to work independently
Strong computer skills, including MS Word and Adobe
Outstanding communication skills
Ability to work well alone or as part of a team
Discretion to maintain confidential records and files
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment
Desire to continuously learn and develop skillsets
Willingness to work with a variety of patients and insurance payors
English proficiency, both verbal and written
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Includes a typical home office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to work on a computer throughout most of the day, as tasks require.
Ability to use and speak on the phone or via teleconference, as needed throughout the day.
