Auth Central Supervisor - Patient Access

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

The Auth Central Supervisor roles consist of overseeing the authorization body of work for McLeod Health participating providers and practices. 

Partners and supports all McLeod Health facilities as well as the ancillary departments. This also includes partnering with all MPA (McLeod Physician Associates) practices as well as non-McLeod owned practices.

Ensures the Patient Financial Coordinator or Pre-Surgical Financial Coordinator team properly utilizes all tools and resources furnished via authorization/payer grids and payer portals; proactively ensures completion of the patients work listed.

Ensures the aforementioned roles are trained to comprehensively document each patient’s encounter detailing the authorization workflow with detailed documentation. 

Manages the workflow and processes so all patients are worked timely and there are no patients pending for next day at the close of business.

Shifts resources as needed to accommodate the business needs and assertively works to ensure all patients have been financially vetted with all worklists 7+ days for non-surgical and 30+ days for surgeries.

Proactively updates the payer grid and applicable teams if new payer information and/or updates are identified.

Participates in discussions and decisions impacting workflow, continuous improvement opportunities and resource allocation.

Completes yearly evaluations in a timely manner while adhering to the McLeod Health Human Resource standards and PEP process. This includes proper and timely documentation supporting all McLeod Health corporate and departmental policies. 

Performs frequent 1:1 huddles with all Auth Central resources while developing and grooming these resources. Oversight with new hires in ensuring they are properly trained and supported. Provides continual feedback to identify deficiencies and training opportunities. Supports and assists the Director, Operations Manager, and other Supervisors, as needed.

Work Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly

 

Qualifications/Training:

Minimum 2 years data entry/computer experience Advanced knowledge of Windows based computer systems Written and verbal communication skills with persons of all ages and diverse backgrounds  Experience with Epic and extensive insurance background and knowledge Problem solving and performance improvement skills  Revenue Cycle knowledge and the understanding of how this work impacts such 

 

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:

Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school
