Kearney is currently seeking an Audit Remediation and Internal Controls Consultant to join our team! The individual in this position is responsible for delivering quality services and work products on a financial business process, audit readiness and remediation project. This position is hybrid and must be willing to go on-site in Washington, DC as requested. The position will report to the Senior Manager on the engagement and will perform the following responsibilities: Demonstrate professionalism, competence, and client care at all times Understand business operations, processes, and functions unique to the client Apply financial statement audit concepts to the project, including audit expectations and timelines, audit documentation requests workflows, testing concepts, quality supporting documentation, and observations and notice of findings and recommendations Lead business process discussions including redesign working sessions, implementation working sessions, cross-functional meetings, etc., to identify potential internal controls and audit risks and recommend solutions including risk mitigation strategies Review audit reports, notices of findings and recommendations (NFRs), corrective action plans, and provide guidance and recommendations to the client, including remediation activities Lead the remediation process over specific control deficiencies by liaising with stakeholders, developing root cause analysis, recommending corrective action plans, and tracking their progress against remediation milestones Review and evaluate financial/business process internal controls and supporting documentation Perform and conduct reviews over milestone completion, design, and operating effectiveness testwork over remediated control deficiencies Analyze large datasets to ensure supporting documentation meets audit documentation requests Perform reviews over work performed by junior staff and provide appropriate feedback, including the preparation of administrative documentation (e.g., meeting minutes) Provide training to junior staff related to the audit process, remediation workflows, risk management, and other related topics Perform quality control reviews and assist in the submission of supporting documentation for internal and external audits in accordance with Federal Government standards and policies Use organizational and analytical skills and prepare advanced Excel formulas, pivot tables and charts/graphs to track document requests, findings, remediation completion, and other metrics Work in a team environment with clients, Kearney team members, and other contractors Balance tasks concurrently and meet engagement deadlines Effectively communicate and present findings to the client (and multiple audiences) in writing and orally, including distilling information to management level Ensure project deliverable compliance and quality Support firm-wide initiatives Qualifications BA/BS/BBA degree from an accredited college/university A minimum of 4 years of financial statement auditing, audit readiness, audit remediation, audit liaison, grants management, insurance management, financial reporting, and/or equivalent experience Experience working with the Federal Government Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint Working knowledge of federal laws, regulations, and guidance, e.g., CFO Act, OMB Circular A-123 and A-136, FMFIA, FISCAM, GAO Yellow Book, GAO Green Book, Treasury Financial Manual, USSGL, etc. Ability to obtain and maintain agency suitability (requires U.S. citizenship) Preferred Qualifications: CPA, CISA, CGFM, and/or CIA Experience working on a Federal financial statement audit or audit remediation project Experience using a GRC tool to track audit documentation requests, conduct audits/assessments, and develop status reports and dashboard visualizations (i.e. Diligent) KCO1701 #LI-MA1 Overview Exclusively focused on the Government, Kearney & Company provides financial services, including auditing, consulting, and technology services. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
