Audit Coordinator / Health Info Mgmt

With the creation of our new umbrella organization we now have our own identity with a unique payroll, benefits, performance management system, service recognition programs and other common practices across the system. *_Position Summary:_* The Audit Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Release of Information Manager and will serve as the central person for all audit activities. This position is responsible and accountable for timely and accurate release of government and non-government ADR’s, proper documentation, tracking and follow-up of requests for information, and timely coordination of appeals and associated deadlines. The Audit Coordinator will also work in collaboration with the Denials Specialist I. *_Position Responsibilities:_* *Key Areas of Responsibility* 1. _Conducts oversight of all audit functions_ · Coordinates, initiates, monitors, and responds to all audit requests/demands · Initiates and monitors the appeal processes in a timely manner · Monitors timeliness of activities including responses and appeals, maintaining tracking data · Enters and maintains required data in the designated software application, monitoring activities and processes to ensure requirements and deadlines are met · Monitors the clinical appeal process, coordinates second level appeals, and monitors progress · Supports the denials management team by maintaining resource documents and spreadsheets, and performing delegated tasks · Provides reports and updates relative to the audit program · Follows all audit activity to closure 2. _Communication_ · Communicates with hospital staff, designated vendor representatives and others as needed for timely and accurate processing of audit contractors’ activities · Communicates across departments as needed 3. _Process Improvement_ · Continuously evaluates and improves processes in preparation for audit requests and in response to audit findings__ · Assists interdisciplinary teams in identifying and prioritizing areas of process improvement and develop/implement processes and tools to mitigate risk__ 4. _Processes Additional Document Requests (ADRs)_ · Performs other related duties as required__ *_Working Relationships:_* *This Job Reports To (Job Title):*Release of Information Manager *Education* · Minimum:High School Diploma or Equivalent Required · Preferred:Bachelor’s or associate degree in healthcare or related field *Experience* · Minimum: Two (2) years’ experience within healthcare revenue cycle or other healthcare field performing a variety of organizational, administrative, or process improvement functions · Preferred: Three (3) years’ experience within revenue cycle or other healthcare field performing a variety of organization, administrative, or process improvement functions *Licensure, Certification, Registration* · Preferred: A Certified Professional Coder with a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) *Language Skills* · Minimum: Must be able to speak, read and write English. Second language abilities a plus. · Preferred:Must be able to speak, read and write English.
