Audiovisual Manager
Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY/RESPONSIBILITIES

                                                                              

The Audiovisual Manager is responsible for the oversight and operations of the audiovisual technology for the New York campus of Scholastic, as well as management and technical direction of virtual events for the entire company. This includes video and audio set-up, testing, recording, and editing for various internal teams, managing on and off-site live and virtual events, and assisting with installed conference room technology operations at 130 Mercer. The role will also be expected to hire and managing full-time and temporary AV technicians, and on-site photography needs.

Working across a number of different client sites you will use your engineering skills and technical expertise to anticipate the needs of a highly visible, iconic company and its executives. This requires a strong level of professionalism. It also requires an excellent understanding of how to install and integrate video-conference (VC) and audiovisual (AV) equipment, as well as complete preventative maintenance checks, diagnosis, and repair. This role requires working on a range of deliverables across multiple product, content, experiential and communication platforms while collaborating with other creative teams to deliver compelling original content.

This role will also administer Scholastic’s internal video streaming/on demand platform, the meeting scheduling software for the New York and Secaucus campuses and will serve as a consultant to other divisions of the company regarding AV equipment/event management, and videoconferencing/streaming.

Live and Virtual Events:

Manage state of the art auditorium theater with seating for 300. Must have experience running the technology including:

Digital projection of video and computer sources is accomplished through a 20k lumens Panasonic 4K+ digital projector; located in the control booth (front projection).

Full-range speech/music reinforcement sound system and a digital cinema surround sound system; House Lighting Lutron Dimming system

Operate and manage the TriCaster system for live and hybrid events, broadcasts, and productions

Provide video streaming support for virtual events company-wide, on-demand platforms, and in-person events on the New York campus

Oversee technical operation of special events, high profile on/off site and virtual meetings

Hire/manage temps as necessary to ensure coverage for events

Consult on AV equipment purchases and recommend appropriate equipment and vendors

Provide training for other content managers

Work with STS and software vendor to keep software current

Customize programming of software for Scholastic's needs

Serve as "help desk" liaison if users have problems

Must be available to work onsite most days and be willing to come in early or stay late as needed to assist with events planning and logistics

Video/Sound Editing:

Experienced videographer and editor able to produce a wide variety of productions (corporate videos, promotions marketing pieces, virtual events, webinars, etc.) either from scratch or from provided video elements

Edit or oversee editing video and photo content. Consult/review with internal and external partners to ensure proper goal is being met.

Understand post-production workflows.

Finalize technical aspects to ensure quality and accurate delivery format, i.e., suggesting or selecting music.

Manage on-site photography, video and audio production at 130 Mercer.

Manage content upload and channels for on-demand video.

Video Conference/Meeting Services:

Technical proficiency and install experience of VC and AV solutions including (but not restricted to) Zoom Meetings, Zoom Webinars, StreamYard, Microsoft Teams

Install and configure a wide range of video conferencing and integrated audio and video equipment.  Ensure installed conference room technology is functional and up to date.

Oversee operations related to live streaming of internal meetings.

Work directly with the Technology team regarding strategy and implementation of enterprise-wide video and audio communication software and hardware.

Maintain master database of clients, equipment, locations, rooms, services, etc.

Manage internal CATV distribution system for New York campus.

Oversee maintenance of equipment/spaces for New York campus.

Train users on demand for Zoom meeting and webinar production.

Administer Scheduling Software for New York and Danbury campuses.

Purchase new equipment and supplies to maintain AV dept. viability.

Train new users on software.

Process all invoices for purchases, rentals and contracts.

Assist Facilities with moving existing equipment.

Provide consulting services to other divisions.

Assist with training on new and existing equipment.

Provide limited maintenance and service on AV equipment owned by other departments.

Coordinate technical details of special events with other departments.

Manage new AV installations/existing moves on the NYC campus and elsewhere as required.

Ability and willingness to lift and move AV equipment and meeting room furniture as needed.

Qualifications

Must know projection systems, including interfacing of computers, video playback devices, projectors, recording equipment, and switching/processing devices

Must be able to set up and operate PA systems independently

Must be able to set up and operate video cameras

Must be able to learn specifics of in-house systems to perform responsibilities listed above

Should have basic knowledge of non-linear editing systems for video and audio

Should be proficient in theatrical stagecraft, including lighting, rigging and set construction

At least 7 years’ experience
