We administer the workers’ compensation process for all employee injured while working in the state of Georgia. In part, the ADR Division provides mediation services for claims throughout the state – holding over 2,000 mediations per year. Do you have a student loan balance? Primary Duties and Responsibilities, included, but not limited to: Mediators conduct mediation conferences primarily via the Zoom video conference platform and, upon request, in-person throughout the State of Georgia to facilitate the resolution of workers’ compensation disputes and the settlement of workers’ compensation claims. Work as a mediator is key to moving an injured worker’s claim towards a final resolution. Therefore, mediators must adhere to ethical and legal guidelines, ensure confidentiality of the process as well as maintain proficiency in Georgia workers’ compensation law and current issues. Our preferred candidate is a balanced employee who works hard to serve the public, but also takes time to recharge and recommit. The State of Georgia’s paid time off program aims to maximize productivity both inside and outside the workplace by providing several leave programs including holiday (currently 13 paid holidays per year), annual & sick leave (accrual begins the first day of employment), and administrative leave (i.e., professional development, blood donation, jury duty, military duty, etc.). Currently, but subject to the discretion of the Board, mediators are allowed to work from home two (2) days per week. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Candidate must have a J.D. degree and be a member of the Georgia Bar. Alternatively, the candidate will have eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination or have reciprocity. 2. Candidate residing in or near the Savannah metropolitan area is mandatory . 3. Candidate must have excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to relay information accurately and effectively. 4. Candidate must have superior interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. 5. Experience in workers’ compensation law is mandatory. The preferred candidate will have between three (3) and five (5) or more years of workers’ compensation experience. 6. The ability to conduct occasional travel around the State of Georgia is mandatory, including the potential for consecutive days of overnight travel. When travel is necessary, candidate will be responsible for conducting mediations in various cities, which will include, but may not be limited to: Brunswick, Douglas, Savannah, Valdosta, and Waycross. Travel will be via your personal vehicle, with mileage reimbursement. Additional Information: 1. SBWC will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc. 2.
