Job Description:
The Assoicate Project Implementation Engineer is a key technical resource for the site and is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of site and capital projects in terms of development, launch execution, and post launch evaluation. The Assoicate Project Implementation Engineer will partner with the Value Stream leadership to supervise all commissioning, validation, and start-up activities for projects across the site. The Assoicate Project Implementation Engineer is also responsible for providing the technical expertise to the site, including advanced problem-solving analysis and resolution, data tracking to identify continuous improvement opportunities. This role may require travel to provide regional support dependent upon project workload.
The Assoicate Project Implementation Engineer is the value-stream contact for all externally driven activities in their area. This includes the execution
of capital projects as an Operations CVS (Commissioning, Validation, & Start-up) Lead, the supply response for the activity management process, and the
technical support of new product and/or packaging launches. The Engineer also partners with site engineering and IE resources to develop the site Master Plan.
The Project Lead works closely with the CVS Manager, Value Stream Managers and their team, Project Engineers, Q&FS, EH&S, and team members based on needs of the project. The Project Lead is a resource for the Production Leaders, Area Managers, and other support managers at the site for input to projects, and development of new procedures / guidelines.
What are we looking for?Education:
3-5 years of experience in manufacturing at Mars or Associates Degree in Engineering, Supply or technical field of study and 2 years of experience in a TPM/technical, manufacturing environment
Experience and Knowledge:
• Comprehensive understanding of the CVS (Commissioning, Validation, & Start-up) process, lean thinking methodology, and their application to the site environment
• Understanding of the change management and capital appropriations processes
• Demonstrate leadership skills and a strong ability to troubleshoot / problem solve
• Demonstrate meditation & negotiation skills
• Strong working knowledge of manufacturing, warehousing, and engineering functions in a food processing/distribution facility
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
• Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, and influencing skills
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint)
• Shows autonomy and needs limited direction
• Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds
• Must be able to work flexible hours and able to travel up to 25%
What will be your key responsibilities?The Engineer is the main technical interface with operations, reliability management, and engineering. They are responsible for driving project CVS (Commissioning, Validation, & Start-up) from Pre-Eng to project closure. Principal accountabilities within their project management are as follows:
• Coordinate commissioning, validation, and start-up for major and small minor projects at the site
• Develop the CVS plan to include Global Best Practices for Quality & Food Safety
• Set up and lead meetings related to CVS activities and project information
• Manage de-risking workshops and activities throughout the project life cycle. Work with cross-functional teams to develop
mitigation actions against planned and unplanned changes that could prevent the project team from being successful
• Lead Change Management documentation to capture scope changes throughout the project. Align scope changes with project team and agree on next course of action(s)
• Use storytelling and visualization to effectively communicate and engage key stakeholders.
• Resolve cross functional issues and agree on actions, follow up on actions, define and report on milestones
• Support site CVS activities including coordination of resources, collaboration with engineering group,
leading cross-functional decision-making teams concerning project activities, developing the CVS plan, and maximizing the operational effectiveness of start-up
• Support large number of Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing as needed for projects
• Lead new equipment to agreed upon performance metrics including TRS, Production Reliability, MTBF, and loss elimination
